WCG medalists fall on first day of SEC

ImageThe World Cyber Games gold, silver and bronze medalists all fell on the first day of the Samsung Euro Championship while last year's runners up MYM have already secured a medal.

The SEC tournament opened with a humongous upset, as mTw.dk, last year's runners up at the Electronic Sports World Cup and the WCG finals in Seattle, fell to the underdogs from Greece. Vatos Locos, the name unknown to most, will now be remembered for a very long time in Denmark.

The defeat was one of the heavy ones, as the Greeks demolished mTw in the first half. It was only their enormous nervousness that allowed the Danes to pull back several rounds when VL was had already secured at least a draw.

"MYM were playing with their old verve and ferocity."
The first round of the double elimination bracket brought no more shocking results. But in the second round, Meet Your Makers saw the WCG bronze medalists Amazing Gaming off to the lower bracket. The Poles then eliminated the reigning WCG champions emuLate in the upper bracket semi final.

In the three games MYM played today, the Poles were playing with their old verve and ferocity, and were as loud as ever. It was the team that their fans want to remember - one with enormous confidence and skill. It looks like the rut they were in is well behind them.

In the upper bracket final, MYM will meet either Team Alternate or Fnatic. There is much more strain on both of the semi finalists, as they have to play in the Extreme Masters II and the SEC at the same time. So far, though, neither the Germans nor the Swedes had problems beating their opponents at the SEC.

Tomorrow's SEC games seem very promising, as the lower bracket will have mTw playing Roccat and the winner of that match playing A-Gaming. There is definitely a lot to look forward to on Saturday.
