World of Warcraft: Epic gems for badges in 2.4

The discoverys of patch 2.4 continues as it's now possible to buy epic quality gems for badges.

As you can see on the picture, the gems are available for purchase for 15 badge of justice each. The NPC that sells them are Shaani, a jewelcrafting supplier on Sunwell isle and is unlocked with the "Razorthorn Root" daily quest.

These gems will now be available from Black Temple (drop), Sunwell Plateu (drop), Magtheridon (drop in a gem-bag) and from Shaani (bought).

Agreed, but people that have 3-4 maybe more active pvp chars may not have time to raid Black Temple^^

This will actually make mining/prospecting totally worthless. With everyone having that easy access to those gems (and the ability for people to sell them afterwards) the game just gets even more casual.

Funny enough though, thinking of giving a Crimson Spinel an AH Value of 300g after patch 1 Badge of Justice is word around 20g then, so if you want to farm money, one Karazhan full clear will be worth way over 400g for you...

I agree though, that the system at the moment is crap, but instead of this they should have added a "gem token" that you can trade for a gem of choice instead of having the gems themselves drop in instances as most people need red socket gems anyways.

Poor people that bought tons of stuff for their badges like primal nethers.

Even though I'd like to see epic gems buyable from arena points, It's still a good change. People can complain all they want about making the game easier etc, but farming gems, either by solo farming bt trash (Which is extremely boring) or buying gems from AH or whatever is not exactly my idea of fun.

It might look cool now, but in the end it will just be the same in my opinion.
=> You'll be able to get the gems for 15 badges, but the JC'ers will probably ask a few hundred gold to cut them, if you're not a Jewelcrafter yourself.

Well .. this is stupid. But on the other hand, I can use my 480 badges now for not only a caster ring, but for some bling to add to S3 gear.
Vortex for badges update was as retarded as this, tho I already payed 750g per vortex to get belt of blasting qq

So, what are raiding guilds going to make money from now? Selling vortexes is no longer profitable and, with this change, neither is selling gems.

good change for anyone who never will raid. Not like raiders are more deserving for their "hard work" in time spent. Spent around 2.5k g to fill my current gear with BT gems

2.5k g is about ~8-10 hours of farming MAX, that's 2 BT raids. Don't think you can get full epic gems for yourself in 2 raids ;). Although this is definatly a good change, and about time too! Been paying way too much for those gems! :[

I hope they add an arena only version of the game at some point, just like the tournament realm.
For someone who only plays WoW to have some fun in arenas not having to worry about getting gear at all would be so nice.

Adding new items accessible to the masses only means you have to spend more time getting gear to not fall behind. While this is the principle of MMOs, I'm quite certain that those who don't want to do anything besides arenas would be happier having an arena only version of the game than they're now.

They could even make you pay seperately for each version of the game, which would probably lead to quite some new subscriptions from those who want to play both versions :)

I've been wanting an arena only version of the very nature of the tournament PTRs since the start of season 1.
And then add the possibility to create servers yourself and suddently WoW tournaments will be featured at LAN events everywhere because the game is so ridiculously popular.
