The Koerean SK duo claims the first place in their groups in the offline qualifier of the KODE5 South Korea stop. The offline qualifier consisted of nine qualified players and 23 auto berthed players and took place at the Intel E-Sports Stadium in Yongsan today. Divided into four groups, the qualifier underwent in the form of single elimination with each match using best of three format.
The event featured the most famous Korean stars as well as several upcoming players. The organizer also invited retired veterans like GoStop and Robelldo[GhoST].
June "Lyn" Park saw three NE players in his half bracket in Group A together with the likes of in shape Jae Wook "Lucifer" Noh and Jae Hyuk "SouthSea" Lee. Lyn beat Mamoru who recently came back from military service and later on EvE to meet Lucifer in the group final. Lyn finished the latter off with a clean sheet on Terenas Stand and Turtle Rock.
Sung Sik "ReMinD" Kim was drawn into Group C which was comparably weak on paper. However his debut in this tournament was not easy as he had to take on his teammate Seo Woo "ReiGn" Kang. In spite of being out of shape recently compared to ReiGn, ReMinD pulled through thrillingly by 2-1. Afterwards he did not come across much trouble against GoStop and Kei and joined Lyn in the Regional Finals.
Seong Deok "SoJu" Lee, however, continued his recent low run in the "group of death" Group B with the most professional players. The "Undead Killer" lost his third consecutive match against Undead in a week as he was knocked out by Jung Hee "Sweet" Chun by 1-2. Chul Woo "Shy" Park, who did not earn a place in Meet Your Makers' line-up at NGL Finals, showed his worth as he defeated three Beijing E-sports Team players: Sung Yeon "Myth" Kim, Jung Hee "Sweet" Chun and Hyeong Ju "Check" Lee in the group final.
It turned out to be a gloomy day for the "Fantasista" Jae Ho "Moon" Jang who marked his comeback from short term inactivity at NGL Finals. Though he defeated both Oh Seong "FiveStar" Kwon and Tae In "Rainbow" Kim and broke into the group final, Duck Man "SocceR" Youn proved to be too much for him. SocceR earned his second precious victory over Moon who is comparably inferior in mirror game after the grand final of AWL's first season.
