The reputation of SK Gaming has been put on the line following an interview done with former player Daniel "XLord" Spenst on MYM. SK Gaming has decided to respond by shedding a little light on the situation.Daniel "XLord" Spenst owes much of his success to SK Gaming who selected him for the SK06 project and later placed trust in him as they added him to their international team for the WC3L and NGL.
Following his exit from the team XLord was recently interviewed on MYM claiming a lack of team spirit within the team as well as accusing the managing director of SK Alexander "TheSlash" Mueller of being a liar.
It is always disappointing to hear a player talk bad about their former team but even more disappointing when it is not the truth.
Statement from managing director of SK Gaming Alexander "TheSlash" Mueller:
"I feel sorry for XlorD when reading something like that but he told me in advance he would throw mud in our direction. What happened is one of the reasons why we did not want to work with him in the first place.
He is a very young player that still has to learn a lot. He accused me of being a liar for not raising his salary within his running contract. In fact, the happened, as he got a raise though there was no need to do so.
XlorD says he had problems with Miou, which is very true. He showed no respect towards his teammate and when it was needed (preparation for the EPS Finals), he played him with 50% of his capability only. This is one of many similar incidents we have had.
When talking about team spirit, XlorD is crossing a line. Of course we had two groups within the squad at the end of 2008, but it was clear which direction the team would change. We discussed it in Cologne with the players with the team spirit in mind.
SK has always kept a close relationship with its players and always will. This is the reason why MadFroG, HeMan and others show up at special events. This is the reason why Insomnia started and ended his career at SK. It is the reason why great players like to play for SK. It takes more than just being very good at your game. At least that is what we believe.
We chose Reign over XlorD and we have the strong belief this was the right call at the right time. It seems XlorD has a problem with that, but we can't and won't change it."
Statement from player Daniel "miou" Holthuis:
"I was trying to decide if I should reply or not but in the end I decided to do so as this interview shows SK in a wrong and bad way and it makes me feel sad to read stuff like this. In my opinion the interview in question is biased and it just shows how envious XLorD is for being the second choice in SK. He lied and did not tell the entire story.
In his interview, the first thing that he mentioned as a motivating factor for him to play was money. At sixteen years old! He always asked for more money from SK even though SK had no obligation to give him a raise. XLorD's prime motivation for playing has always been money and he was just unhappy he did not get what he wanted.
Despite not getting along too well anymore, we played together as a 2on2 team in the GSL league. He claimed at least 60% of the prize money and refused to share it 50/50, which is typical for a 2on2 tournament. I agreed as I was tired of arguing with him.
For the next season he went behind my back and played with Take even though he agreed to play that season together with me after winning the previous one.
SK and the team has welcomed him and supported him to the best of our ability, even though he did not achieve anything big up to that point. I attended several tournaments, including GameGune in Bilbao, specifically to take care of him because that is what XlorD's father and Alex (TheSlash) asked me to do. But every time I asked him for practice games he declined, although I heavily needed training versus Undead. This was his way of thanking me, nice teammate!
As for the Koreans dining on their own, I had an EPS game right after the finals that I wanted to play from the SK office. We all agreed that we would not go to a restaurant together. Furthermore, the team was lodged in different places because there most hotels in Cologne were booked that weekend. The Korean players were staying in Düsseldorf with reis.
I had no problems with the atmosphere in the team and did not feel like there was a barrier between the Korean and European players. Everyone was happy about the outcome of the tournament. I met Lyn at the Extreme Masters challenge not so long ago and we had a lot of stuff to talk about.
You have to consider that our team is pretty new and it is not that easy for the Koreans to speak English. I have to say that they are trying hard though and it has got much better already. I think if there were problems like XlorD stated we would not have been able to win the WC3L finals."
Statement from manager Mik Sik "reis" Ko:
"The reason why we write these statements is because some people really believed in what XLorD said in the interview on MYM. I thought that we had no problem with each other, but it seems like he is really frustrated and that is the reason for talking bad behind my back instead of face to face. I never talked bad about XLorD behind his back and never mentioned his behaviour in any kind of a way in an interview that I did after his departure.
Maybe XlorD should try to grow up and show a more professional attitude because what he is doing right now has nothing to do with being a professional. If he still has a problem with anything he should come and talk to me instead of publishing rubbish on the MYM site.
Miou's statement is very well written and gives the truth of what actually happened during the time with the former members. I hope Xlord realises and the community can see that there is no reason for XlorD to blame SK and talk trash about us.
XlorD had to leave SK so he should face the fact that he is not SK anymore and trying to influence public opinion towards SK."

Of course, I take back my word if SK does not live up to the contract and pay up when specified (according to the contract obviously).
but some ppl jump at the chance to blame sk. i wonder why these ppl visit this site, when they bear sk a grudge!
want to thumb me down? enjoy it!
MfG
lol
I wonder if these merc can find new clan with higher salary
it's will be the end of SK (aka : South Korean)
these merc grow up in WE and leave because they want higher salary
don't forget to raise their salary every month because they are your stars
2. We didn't interview XlorD because of this incident (you will probably not believe me, but that is probably because you don't know me).
3. We didn't blew anything out of proportions. We posted an interview, just like everyone else would do. Regardless of what you think (as a editor payed by SK) this is a good story, and if you had the opposite story - you would post it too. Communication-wise, the case has been blown out of proportions because of SK's handling of it (which is pretty easy to see from the comments of this news).
xlord is pretty young and i think he will learn it sooner or later. e-sports isnt just jun anymore it a business and when you are playing in a team AND getting payed for it you shoult be able to overlook personal interests and feelings about other players. i know reis now for a long time and i think he´s one of the fairest and most proffessional managers wc3 ever had. there is no reason why he should lie. After reading xlord´s and sk´s statements i think take has too much influence on xlord in things like selve conciousness.
if its negative or positive .. its your choice ;-)
WOOF! Here comes Deadman!
it's a plan to force player quit
if SK can find korean human player join their team
it's time for Miou
and bds has already answered: every player has been and will be paied according to their contracts. what else should he write? puplishing the contracts of each player and the abstracts of accounts?
but i wonder why xlord, if he hasn't recieved his money, doesn't go to a attorney at law and tries to get his money by the legal process. i would do so, if my former employer hasn't paid my salaries.
statement from hot
' As for money I was always paid in time and was well treated.'
and this one, the most important imo
'Just their relations did not work out and maybe SK did not keep some promises or Ixi did not understand them in the right way. That's their business and we should not interfere.'
And reis fans plz thumb me down!
Money aint everything when he doesnt live alone, he have to survive with theese money
Patience is an important thing actually.. but SK showed this to the entire community because of everyone believed XlorD's statement on www.mymym.com so they had to react.
+ Reis looks cool so dont insult him :D
