Alternate used to be the head sponsor of Mortal TeamWork until they decided it would be less expensive to found their own gaming team. Team Alternate is now the champion of the Counter-Strike ESL Pro Series and the EPS runner-up for Source. The team also has a strong, predominantly German Warcraft 3 team.

The problems Team Alternate were having are the same as those of PGSPokerStrategy.com, commonly referred to as PGS. Most professional Counter-Strike players even call the Polish team Pentagram.
