One of the top DotA teams in Asia, KingSurf, have been banned from the 9th MYM Prime Defending due to map hacking.
The issue came from the match where the third finisher in the 8th MYM Prime Defending, KingSurf, met the Greek team 1P in the playoff preliminaries of the 9th MYM Prime Defending. The Malaysian champions conquered the Greeks in that match and therefore advanced to the playoffs.
However, according to MYM's DotA specialists, who had been "analyzing and debating" the replay for days, players from KingSurf used a map hack in that game and clicked on their enemies while they were in the fog. For the detailed evidence which MYM admins and DotA specialists provided, take a look at their official news.
This news shocked the DotA scene because one of the best DotA teams was caught map hacking. While some people showed their disappointment towards KingSurf, more and more began to suspect and accuse the MYM officials' sloppy decision. The evidence, which MYM admins provided, could possibly happen due to lag which KingSurf players suffered in game.
"KingSurf players clicked on 1P players' heroes when they were on the edge of the fog from KingSurf players' aspect, and 1P players' heroes disappeared in the fog right after KingSurf players' suspicious actions. This is most likely due to internet delay." One anonymous DotA specialist said.
There are also fans who discovered that two time MYM Prime Defending champions Virtus.Pro also used a map hack in the game against Rosa, in the same way which MYM admins caught KingSurf map hacking.
The MYM admins stopped replying to the angry Malaysian fans who kept demanding for justice in the news; but it is still unclear where this issue will go. MYM.DotA, who also participated in the tournament as the runner up last season, were in the same half bracket as KingSurf. This decision has thus helped MYM.DotA avoid meeting the Malaysian champions in the semi finals.
