The first Players of the Year were awarded for their victories and triumphs in 2002. The jury were always representatives of the esports media outlets from around the world. Fourteen of them, including GotFrag, QuadV, ESReality and Fragbite voted for the best and for the most improved players in 2007.

The results of this year's vote were not very surprising. In Counter-Strike the Player of the Year title went to Filip "NEO" Kubski from Meet Your Makers. This was NEO's third award for 2007, his previous ones being ESL's eSports Player of the Year and CS Player of the Year awards. NEO was ahead of Patrick “cArn” Sattermon from Fnatic and his team mate Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg. Interestingly, f0rest won the same award last year.

Winning the WCG in Counter-Strike brought Mickael “mSx” Cassisi is the Revelation of 2007 title. mTw’s Christoffer Sunde may be a little disappointed, as he was the ESWC and WCG runner up and finished four points shy of the award.

As expected, Jang "The Fifth Race" JaeHo was awarded the Warcraft 3 Player of the 2007 title. This award looks more outstanding because he trumped Olav "Creolophus" Undheim, the runner up at the ESWC, the winner of BlizzCon and the World Cyber Games. The ESL Warcraft 3 Player of the Year Yoan "ToD" Merlo was voted third.

For the first time in history, one of those awards went to two players. Creolophus and June "Lyn" Park will have to share the Warcraft 3 Revelation of 2007 award.

The Quake 4 Player of the Year, for the second year in a row, is Johan "Toxjq" Quick. The runner up is Maciej "Av3k" Krzykowski who probably lost this title over his i32 final defeat to Toxjq.
