The ESWC Organising Committee has announced that the SK Gaming female team and Seong Deok "SoJu" Lee were awarded berths into the ESWC Grand Final as defending champions.

SoJu and the SK Ladies have won the 2007 Electronic Sports World Cup for Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike respectively. Along with the champions in the other games, they will be put up in five star hotels in San Jose for the duration of event on August 25-27.

The other players autoberthed into the event are Maciej "Av3k" Krzykowski (last year's Quake 4 winner), the former PGS Gaming Counter-Strike team (currently Meet Your Makers) and Freek "XeNoGeaR" Molema (Trackmania).

Why choose av3k if he doesn't play Quake III though (I know it's a technicality/formality but still common sense should prevail)? Or is this a subtle hint, and he has already been contacted!

Is he any good? Never seen him myself, and I'm pretty sure in one of the gazillion interviews you did with him (think it was at ESWC 2007 - you asked him a question and he told you to cut it, I remember!), he said he would be giving up competitive gaming after Quake 4 (or that he wasn't taking it seriously). Still a nice free holiday irrespective of all this, I'd lose on purpose in the first rounds and go sight seeing! ^^

He was one of the very best among the players that still played Quake 3 online in its late days. Let's say he had potential.

Av3k was one of the best q4 players alogn with toxic, and fatalit. Av3k beat toxic once in the tournament and stopped his 10 tourney run win. Cooller was Av3ks mentor and trainer.

Av3k was really good in q3 as well, a reason why he was in the q4 elite since day one. (even though he was too young to play major events like the CPL in the start)
