After initially dismissing rumours, KODE5 has announced its $60,000 global final will in fact be held in Moscow, Russia. The two day event will take place at the T-Modul Exhibition Complex in Moscow's Tishinskaya Square, beginning on May 10th.
The tournament which is ran in association with the Russian company Proplay.ru, will have a total prize purse of $60,000 split between its two games, Counter Strike 1.6 and Warcraft III.
Teams and players have been able to qualify for the event in under thirty preliminaries all over the world, with some of the more exotic locations still yet to decide representatives.
The exact prize purse is as follows:
Counter-Strike 1.6
1st: $25,000
2nd: $10,000
3rd: $5,000
Warcraft III
1st: $10,000
2nd: $4,000
3rd: $1,000
With most of the northern and western European qualifiers already finished, the list of talent being shipped to Russia come May, is exceedingly high. With a Polish and Ukraine qualifier on the way, the event is simply bursting at the seams with talent, but the prospect of Meet Your Makers.pl and either A-Gaming or Virtus Pro being added to that list leaves no one in doubt that the KODE5 system works.
