ImageGrubby saw his team lose to Mousesports on his debut on Meet Your Makers. That was the biggest event of the first Warcraft 3 Champions League Playday. Check inside for details from every WC3L game.

Both teams made a 4K addition to their squad since the end of last season; MouseSports recruited Yoan "ToD" Merlo and MeetYourMakers recruited Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen. Both players won their matches with ToD using a Sorceress/Spellbreaker mix along with superb micro to take a 2-0 win over MYM's Hyosub "Focus" Eom. The shock result of the match would be Kim "SaSe" Hammar defeating new MYM addition Park "Shy" Chul Woo 2-0.

The expertise of Noh "Lucifer" JaeWook and Oh "Susiria" Jung Ki prevailed in the 2on2 and new-addition Grubby disposed of Russian Undead player Dmitriy "Happy" Kostin. With the match tied, it would go down to the Orc vs Undead match-up of Wei Liang "Fly100%" Lu versus Lucifer. Fly100% took the lead on the first map Gnoll Wood which is predominately an Orc map, but Lucifer drew level with a victory on his pick of Twisted Meadows in game 2. The final game was on small map Terenas Stand with Fly100% outcreeping Lucifer and expanding without Lucifer finding out until it was too late. Fly took the series and rewarded MouseSports with a win to start off their new WC3L Season.

SK Gaming [5:0] World Elite

SK.ReMinD [2:0] WE.Suho
SK.Reign [2:0] WE.TeD
SK.Lyn [2:1] WE.Like
SK.Soju [2:1] WE.Sky
SK.ReMinD & SK.Soju [2:0]WE.Like & WE.TeD

Despite World Elite being a weakened force the addition of WE.09 players looks as if they are building for the future, however we did not see any of the new additions in Playday 1. World Elite fielded what could be considered their "best" line-up but suffered a 5-0 beating. It was unfortunate for World Elite to meet title holders SK Gaming so early in the season and hopefully this loss will not damage their spirits too much. It does, however, suggest a turn in the tides of who will be the top dogs this season.

Beijing E-Sports Team [3:2] Serious Gaming

BeT.Myth [2:0] srs.Bro88
BeT.Check [2:1] srs.RotterdaM
BeT.WinNers [1:2] srs.DowaQ
BeT.WhO [1:2] srs.SonkiE

Serious Gaming started the clan war having one point already with a preponed match win for American Human player Nikolaus "Sonkie" Cassidy vs Korean Orc Du-Seop "WhO" Chang. BeT did not use either of their two Undead players Chun "Sweet" Jung Hee or Dae "FoV" Dae Hui, perhaps resting after their recent PGL matches, instead the clan war saw a debut for returning legend Sung-Yeon "Myth" Kim.

Hoorai.XQ [2:3] PGS

hoorai.DieSeL [0:2] PGS.LiiLD.C
hoorai.elfittaja [2:1] PGS.ShaDe
hoorai.Naniwa [1:2] PGS.Eric

hoorai.elfittaja [0:2] hoorai.Bringer vs. PGS.Eric & PGS.LiiLD.C

Replays available in Hoorai.xQ vs PGS Match Coverage

A successful start for Daniel "LiiLD.C" Claesson in his PGS career winning both his solo versus fellow Elf player Radoslav "DieSeL" Kolev as well as his 2on2 with the infamous Eric "Eric" Marten. Sebastian "FuRy" Pesic did not start off so well with a loss to Peter "DNA" Agardi 2-0. Johan "Naniwa" Lucchesi and Eric fought it out to decide who is the most badass Warcraft3 player with Eric coming out on top. Mr Samuli "Elfittaja" Sihvonen struck again to defeat Maxim "ShaDe" Babarcev but it was not enough to secure a win.

mTw [2:3] aTTaX

mTw-Rainbow [0:2] aTTaX.yAwS
mTw-Protois [2:1] aTTaX.impact
mTw-KiWiKaKi [1:2] aTTaX.dArk
mTw-Satiini [0:2] aTTaX.XlorD
mTw-Protois & mTw-hanf [2:0] aTTaX.impact & aTTaX.yAwS

Replays available in mTw vs Attax Match Coverage

A match between the two teams who earned their spot through the qualifiers, Attax with their primarily German squad versus the worldwide line-up of mTw. The shock result of the match was solid Korean player Tae "Rainbow" In Kim who picked up some good results at the end of Season XII losing 2-0 to German player Marc "yAwS" Förster. Lars Gerrit "Protois" Reichelt won the German vs. German battle beating Dennis "impact" Kalsen 2-1 whilst his Canadian team-mate Jonathan "KiWiKaKi" Garneau ran into trouble in the Stefan "dArk" Lehmann suffering a 2-1 defeat. Former SK Gaming member Daniel "Xlord" Spenst disposed of star player Juha-Matti "Satiini" Bäckström 2-0 but Protois and Hanf from mTw proved the stronger German doubles pair for the 2on2. Final score 3-2 for Attax with good performances from German players from both teams.

Wicked [4:1] Go

wicked.FiveStar [2:1] Go.MinHyuk
wicked.TeRRoR [0:2] Go.Space-
wicked.SouthSea [2:0] Go.Yange
wicked.SocceR [2:1] Go.Ohjie

The final match in the round-up is the Korean clan war of Wicked (formerly Butterfly Gaming) versus Clan Go. The only player to come from outside Korea was Tomasz "Terror" Filipiuk who was the only loss for team Wicked with his match versus Sung-Hyun "Space" Park. Duck "Soccer" Man Youn, Kwon "FiveStar" Oh Seong, and Jae-Hyuk "SouthSea" Lee struck home with wins in their solos whilst Soccer and SouthSea teamed up to take the 2on2 as well. Solid win for Wicked, could have gone either way.

Epilogue

Playday 1 has seen some good performances and has already asked some questions about who will finish top 2. Will MouseSports finish their mid-table reputation and finish in the top 2 after their win over MYM? Are World Elite slipping or just a momentary stumble? Are Serious Gaming now finally in the WC3L ready to do the business? We'll find out in Playday 2.
