The American battlegroup "bloodlust" a.k.a. Bg9 is nowadays thought of as the best North American battlegroup by far; home of high profile teams such as Pandemic, fnatic(Insurrection) and SK, and other star players such as Serennia, Azael and Happyminti to name a few.
- "It's gotten to the point where accomplishments in other battlegroups aren't even noteworthy anymore unless it's done in BG9", quote from Serennia's interview with SK.
This is exactly what needs to be done in order to take that extra step towards a professional, competitive scene, and that's why we have decided to call out for an official "bg9 of Europe".
Cyclone (battlegroup 3) is the home of various top teams such as the European regional champions SK (Warders) and global finals runner up 4Kings (Nashwan). Recently top teams such as Knockout, (4th place at the European regionals), world #1 2vs2 team druid/hunter Cherekee and Beasteh have migrated there as well, which makes more than a perfect reason for this to become the most competitive battlegroup in Europe. Many more teams and players have of course done this, but in order to make this THE battlegroup, we are willing to take an extra step.
Not only will this become the most fun battlegroup to play in, but at the end of each month we will be handing out prizes by Steelseries to the top 3 teams in each bracket, plus some extra prizes for the three highest ranked players (all three brackets together). The first prizes will be handed out the last week of February, more details on that will be announced later.
So everyone who doesn't already play in the Cyclone battlegroup (battlegroup 3) and wants to take that extra step, and who knows, maybe even become a professional wow player one day, we suggest that you start migrating as soon as possible!
Below you can find a few statements from well known players and teams who already play or plan on transferring to the, soon-to-be best battlegroup in Europe.
Vilu, Paladin (Knockout)
- 4th place at the European regional finals season 1.
"We moved since our old BG had nothing to offer us competition wise, on Cyclone we found competition. Arena is fun here. I'm pretty sure there are other teams who are in the exact same position as we were, that's enough reason to migrate imo."
vilden, Rogue
- Former professional CS player and 1st to break 2400 rating in 3s/5s in season 2 on Cyclone.
"I think it's a great initiative to actually get an "official" battlegroup where the best
of the best will gather. Now with prizes and stuff, those people who are into the game for pvp
doesn't really have a choice, their benefit should exceed the cost of paying the transfer cost.
This initiative should make the Cyclone BG more competitive than Tichondrius/BG9 in the US.
Even though I think Stormscale/Cyclone deserves mentioning in the same breath as Tichondrius/BG9, I see new people everyday on Stormscale climbing the ladders.
And all of you people who doesn't agree with me, just skip the discussion and bring your friends
here! Also, I guess I'm not the only one tired of all the talking about how good the BG9 is, so, then again, would be fun to actually have a justifiable argument for having the best BG in the world, in Europe!"
Beasteh, Druid
- Worlds highest ranked 2vs2 team together with Cherekee (Hunter).
"Me and Cherekee (renamed to Cherez), decided to move to Stormscale to take advantage of the world class teams and players currently on Cyclone battlegroup. Our previous battlegroup had some talented players don't get wrong, but it was lacking the activity from high end teams that we needed to progress further."
Zeksy, Priest (SK Gaming)
- Winner of the European regional finals season 1.
"BG3 and especially Stormscale is the place to be for people who enjoy PvP, and have been so since release when a large amount of old PvP guilds from DAoC decided to make Stormscale their home. I’m hoping that everyone out there that are serious about PvP, and especially Arenas, will come and join in on the action."
Jebzig, Warlock (4Kings)
- Runner-up World finals season 1.
"It seems like more and more teams from other BG's are migrating here, so I gues if you play for the competitive part of wow, it would be worth consider to move here.. the more top teams that gets here, the better!"
Update:
Please contact gosey (via site message) with a little bit of info about your guild/group's name if you have or plan on transfering to the Cyclone battlegroup.

European Battlegroup Project

The competitive scene in World of Warcraft is growing rapidly; the arena playstyle with different brackets offers everything that a true e-sport game needs. The competition however is something that varies vastly in each battlegroup, and that is something that has to be fixed in order to bring wow closer to e-sport acceptance.

Anyway, the idea is good so the topplayers/teams will not be scattered throughout the BGs.
Enjoy it
Also nice to see Steel stepping up and supporting this idea with prizes. Now you only need to make sure that the message gets spread to non eSports sites and people too otherwise you will only have the CS and WC3 players in there while esports needs to broaden its base.
And I know the rankings are quite popular, so I guess the rankings will lure the people to see the newspost :)
I dont need to see Ming or Jasi playing on BG9 to think they'r awsome players or super lamme ones.
Althout yea i agree the competion can make you better and it can make Arenas alot more fun.
For now im happy with Misery and Frostmane.

Also as far as Knockout lacking competition on Rampage BG, they came 3rd in 5v5 in S1 and were regularly beaten in S1 by 'Toy Soldiers', the same was true in S2 untill the Hunter buffs. 'Tarmed' were also regularly #1 in 5v5 above Knockout but tailed off at the end of S2. Knockout got rank #1 in Cyclone within 3 days of transferring by a 120 rating margin as well.
Also does:
"plus some extra prizes for the three highest ranked players (all three brackets together)"
only apply to the players who are competing in Cyclone since it isn't an 'acheivement' to get good ratings in any other BG?
Then wow will be a step closer for becoming a better esport.
A maximum of 3 teams from Europe can go to the world finals anyway, if the next torunament is like the last. So the only thing having all the top teams in the same BG will do is make the 3 teams from Europe in the world finals even better. But I'm pretty sure that there will be other tournaments as well.
The prizes are for this projexts battlegroup, yes. Feel free to dig up the money needed to hand out prizes for all battlegroups. :)
As a "sidenote" I can mention that I have nothing to do with this project, other than that i play in BG3.

The season1 ended on qualifiacations/event realm, after that the ladder was dead. Though it was used to pooling points with 10 games a week, hence the rank3 on the "hall of fame". No gives a crap about rating that's not earned.
Toy Soldiers started playing after the end of s1, before s2 had started, and we never met them until over a month to s2, when we started playing again (once our hunter reroll had passed 200 resi). We played a series vs them, 6-0, shortly after they disbanded their team. They reformed months later with 4 new players, creating the TS we learned to love.
During our absence from the arena due to gearing up new hunter/paladin, Tarmed held the top spot. Once we could start playing, we reclaimed the top spot, and held it till our migration.
Hunter buffs did squat to us. We held a positive record versus all teams we met regularly before 2.3, through I must admit Toy Soldiers gave us the best run for our money, sadly we never played them after the hunter buffs.
Keep up the good work.
btw there's been a "project" like this before organized by Ferluci and myself. The old thread still seems to be up: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=285030438&sid=1
It feels like the efforts from back in those days are finally paying off.
Keep up the good work."
How can you know that cyclone is the best BG? I bet you haven't played in all of them and compared them. I think that cyclone is damn overrated.
Naw, but cyclone is great, for real.
I can add that I play WoW myself and I'm not a "WoW hater".
There are a dozen realms in the Cyclone battlegroup, why all go to Stormscale. It'll only load the server more and more and the original people from Stormscale suffer from it.
So yeah, don't all come to Stormscale please, chose one of the other 10 or more servers in Cyclone.
We are not doing this because we want people to play with the "SK team", we do it because we think it's vital for the progress of the competitive scene. Just look at bg9 in USA, it's like nothing else and everyone that's playing there is extremely happy about it.
We will also be running coverage of these two battlegroups, more details on that will be revealed in a few days.
Anyway, I can strondly recommend Shattered Hand, a lot of strong teams only problem might be the lack of high level sockets atm.
Queues to SS now.. ;(
as i see it that means that european qualifiers for blizz tournaments will look like top 3 shit teams form evry bg and only 3 teams that has like an ocean of good (better then other bg winners) teams not making it
also i don t see why u think fucking over all other bgs for some selfish reasons is a good idea
anyway don t listen to this it will ruin wow
