The competitive scene in World of Warcraft is growing rapidly; the arena playstyle with different brackets offers everything that a true e-sport game needs. The competition however is something that varies vastly in each battlegroup, and that is something that has to be fixed in order to bring wow closer to e-sport acceptance. The American battlegroup "bloodlust" a.k.a. Bg9 is nowadays thought of as the best North American battlegroup by far; home of high profile teams such as Pandemic, fnatic(Insurrection) and SK, and other star players such as Serennia, Azael and Happyminti to name a few.
- "It's gotten to the point where accomplishments in other battlegroups aren't even noteworthy anymore unless it's done in BG9", quote from Serennia's interview with SK.
This is exactly what needs to be done in order to take that extra step towards a professional, competitive scene, and that's why we have decided to call out for an official "bg9 of Europe".
Cyclone (battlegroup 3) is the home of various top teams such as the European regional champions SK (Warders) and global finals runner up 4Kings (Nashwan). Recently top teams such as Knockout, (4th place at the European regionals), world #1 2vs2 team druid/hunter Cherekee and Beasteh have migrated there as well, which makes more than a perfect reason for this to become the most competitive battlegroup in Europe. Many more teams and players have of course done this, but in order to make this THE battlegroup, we are willing to take an extra step.
Not only will this become the most fun battlegroup to play in, but at the end of each month we will be handing out prizes by Steelseries to the top 3 teams in each bracket, plus some extra prizes for the three highest ranked players (all three brackets together). The first prizes will be handed out the last week of February, more details on that will be announced later.
So everyone who doesn't already play in the Cyclone battlegroup (battlegroup 3) and wants to take that extra step, and who knows, maybe even become a professional wow player one day, we suggest that you start migrating as soon as possible!
Below you can find a few statements from well known players and teams who already play or plan on transferring to the, soon-to-be best battlegroup in Europe.
Vilu, Paladin (Knockout)
- 4th place at the European regional finals season 1.
"We moved since our old BG had nothing to offer us competition wise, on Cyclone we found competition. Arena is fun here. I'm pretty sure there are other teams who are in the exact same position as we were, that's enough reason to migrate imo."
vilden, Rogue
- Former professional CS player and 1st to break 2400 rating in 3s/5s in season 2 on Cyclone.
"I think it's a great initiative to actually get an "official" battlegroup where the best
of the best will gather. Now with prizes and stuff, those people who are into the game for pvp
doesn't really have a choice, their benefit should exceed the cost of paying the transfer cost.
This initiative should make the Cyclone BG more competitive than Tichondrius/BG9 in the US.
Even though I think Stormscale/Cyclone deserves mentioning in the same breath as Tichondrius/BG9, I see new people everyday on Stormscale climbing the ladders.
And all of you people who doesn't agree with me, just skip the discussion and bring your friends
here! Also, I guess I'm not the only one tired of all the talking about how good the BG9 is, so, then again, would be fun to actually have a justifiable argument for having the best BG in the world, in Europe!"
Beasteh, Druid
- Worlds highest ranked 2vs2 team together with Cherekee (Hunter).
"Me and Cherekee (renamed to Cherez), decided to move to Stormscale to take advantage of the world class teams and players currently on Cyclone battlegroup. Our previous battlegroup had some talented players don't get wrong, but it was lacking the activity from high end teams that we needed to progress further."
Zeksy, Priest (SK Gaming)
- Winner of the European regional finals season 1.
"BG3 and especially Stormscale is the place to be for people who enjoy PvP, and have been so since release when a large amount of old PvP guilds from DAoC decided to make Stormscale their home. I’m hoping that everyone out there that are serious about PvP, and especially Arenas, will come and join in on the action."
Jebzig, Warlock (4Kings)
- Runner-up World finals season 1.
"It seems like more and more teams from other BG's are migrating here, so I gues if you play for the competitive part of wow, it would be worth consider to move here.. the more top teams that gets here, the better!"

Because of that I just think its weird how ppl from Cyclone can say that the BG is so much better then anything else. Also, with the deal about having the highest ratings etc in EU dosnt make it a better BG. Its just more noobs with high rating that you can farm.
Sure, BGs like Blackout and Misery surley are good, but Cyclone, and Stormscale in particular, have been promoted from the start of BGs to be the most competetive (if this is true I left unsaid) and I see it only as a "natural step" for the Cyclone BG to become the first BG with sponsored prices and tournaments.
To all players on Cyclone: Enjoy the even more hardcore pvp environment.
And to all other players on all other BGs: Your BG won't die out because of this happening, your team will just get a bit more rating then what you were used to ;) (except mabey for the top notch teams)
New players are allways welcomed on Shattered hand, its a nice server no queue and a good amount of good pvpers
It might be good to the pvp community in general, but it may also ruin the server in terms of such high population and super queues. (poor pve lovers)
Its just same about BG9, most people dont know any other realms apart from Tichondrios.
Anyway and for now, i strongly believe it doesnt worth to move into Cyclone/Stormscale, and having to handle all the queues and fanboys spaming chat 24/7.
Misery, Blackout etc can just offer people atleast the same competion, that cyclone does.
Hopefully the talent is spread around a little better than BG9, which basically is all concentrated in Tichondrius mainly, then Blackrock, Kil'Jaeden and Ner'Zhul....the main problem with this is the development of queuetimes on the power server, which kinda sucks.
The thing I always enjoy about seeing teams from other battlegroups transfer to the "powegroup" is them talking big, then getting the sh!t kicked out of them. Happens all the time on BG9, so my advice to those seeking the pinnacle of Euro PvP is to lay low and let your ratings speak for themselves :)
But I'm not really complaining though, it's about time EU gets a "BG9". Btw what are the average queue's on Tichondrius nowadays?
Que´s is getting longer by the day.
90% of the X-realm people is retards and i guess it will move up to 95%.
From another point of view, sure it is fun to make the server bigger but in the long run it really going to suck. If you want to join the battlegroup please choose another realm than stormscale.
But like some people say, there won't ever be a "best" battlegroup, there will always be some very skilled teams among other battlegroups (even the smaller and/or less competitive ones). So it won't necassarily mean if you're the best in Cyclone that you'll be the best in the world.
Anyways, personally I'll might consider moving to Cyclone aswell somewhere in the future if it turns out to be a real advantage to play here, over other BG's.
Think that cyclone already is quite full on pvp-players, some have to move to give others space imo =D
On the next competition, we'll show you how "unskilled" are the teams of the french "Cataclysme" Battlegroup.
Wait & see
Keep up the good work."
haha good joke!
btw Knockout used to be on rampage, amirite?
Sorry dude but u dont have a single clue of competitive arena. The biggest BG in the world is still Blutdurst the german one. In season 1 the best 3 Team got Disqualified and couldnt take part in the Championship. Also there are alot of more awesome teams playing there.
For example: the 5on5 Team nolimit was good at Blutdurst and moved to Misery with the Forte Sponsor, and hey they finished season 2 #1 there with 100 rating more than #2. Now they are back on Blutdurst and dont even come into the Top 10 here. What does that tell u? Blutdurst 10times > Misery. Teams like Landoo, Straight Outta Korea play absolutely flawless. There is also a Stage 6 Stream of Landoo vs Top Teams there, if u excuse yourself maybe ill give u an link.
Someone said Blackout > Cyclone? because Inflame is there and xom? well Inflame is an awesome warlock the best in the world maybe, but he himself said that blackout is very bad BG to easy. Cyclone got the DOOM SQUAD now and the #1 2on2 of Misery. Maybe some top notch german 5v5 teams will xfer too and prove how underestimated we are!
Only thing I saw today in trade channel was Xom and other top players selling teams to others :]
But yeah, I agree with others, Blackout was better than Cyclone .. and yep, I have played on both.
On topic; I r coming to zé stormscale on monday maybe! I WILL ADD TO UR QUEZ LOL
