Fnatic and the new MYM team have won the largest amout of prize money in 2007, according to an article by GotFrag. Both teams racked up just over $124,000. SK Gaming is in third place with $73,000.Fnatic is in first place by about $400, but the list is somewhat imprecise and misses many smaller events. GotFrag does not take into account Fnatic's $10,000 for second place in the NGL Season 2 (along with Roccat's $20,000 for first) or MYM's $6,133 for winning the Heyah Logitech Cybersport and Poznan Game Arena tournaments in Poland.
The total winnings of Fnatic and MYM amount to almost a quarter of the total prize money given out last year. This more than proves the dominance of both teams on the international scene in 2007.
Interestingly, Fnatic top the ranking without even winning any of this year's majors (Extreme Masters, Electronic Sports World Cup, World Cyber Games). This does not disprove their quality as a team, but only proves how consistent they were - they took third place at both EM and ESWC and won the difficult tournaments at GameGune and Extreme Masters LA.
MYM, by contrast, earned their money mostly in large sums for about six months and then stopped. They won the Extreme Masters tournament, got second place at the Samsung Euro Championship and won the Electronic Sports World Cup. After the tournament in Paris they failed just about everywhere they could, except domestically.
The top 5 winnings list by GotFrag is as follows:
1) Fnatic - $124,694.67
2) MYM (former PGS) - $124,289.25
3) SK Gaming - $73,057.52
4) NoA - $70,622.01
5) Emulate - $65,097.58
The article misses several events that took place in Scandinavia last year (two Assembly LANs in Finland, Slap Live in Denmark), but it has a lot of interesting information nonetheless. It can be found here.

I know for sure that the Polish scene has no way to promote players and get them out of the blue. Same things in many other countries. There are tons of smart, great players that never see the bright lights of higher eSports as there is virtually nobody to promote them.
what do they do with all the money ..
