It's new year now and ZoneRank have already updated their rankings for January. Quite a few teams swapped their ranks for this update.The new year just began and ZoneRank released a new update of their monthly standings. The changed only affect the top 10 teams in Counter-Strike as some just swapped their rank by gaining and losing points. ZoneRank gives out $10,000 to the top ranked teams and players which is a good extra motivation for the teams.
Still not many tournaments are going on now but the Warcraft III rankings will probably change for the next update with the korean AWL Season 2 going on at the moment. Below you can see the rankings for the Counter-Strike January update but you can also check ZoneRank for more information about all the different rankings.
ZoneRank January 2008
1. fnatic ($3,500)
2. SK Gaming ($2,000)
3. PGSPokerStrategy ($1,400)
4. Made in Brazil ($900)
5. mTw.dk ($700)
6. emuLate ($500)
7. roccat ($350)
8. NiP-Gaming ($150)
9. ALTERNATE aTTaX
10. CMAX.gg

It says it all about the credibility of this ranking.
fnatic still leading, what fun ;))
These rankings are ridiculous, they are throwing money away each month, imagine if they ran monthly or quarterly tournaments, would be a lot better for the community, rather than make the rich teams richer.
e_cool and nunji hit the nail on the head, ZoneRank was formed to get in with the top teams and pay them to support their ranking. ZoneRank have basically paid G7 to "use" their rankings.
What a joke.
mym = mym
noa merged with mtw, so noa = mtw i think
It's different than the actions of PGS and MYM.
and they win money -_-
* WonderBase 2007 - 2nd
* NGL One Finals 2007 - 2nd
* KODE5 Holland - 1st
* WCG SEC 2007 - 1st
So only 1 big title.. the sec.. However.. PGS placed second there
Lets compare those to the list of PGS:
* ESWC 2007 - 1st
* ESL Extreme Masters - 1st
* WCG SEC 2007 - 2th
* SHG Open - 2th
* WCG 2006 - 1st
So more than enough proof.. Mister bds i just got my facts straight and can conclude that SK doesn't earn a spot above PGS!
1st Kode 5 Holland
2nd Extreme Masters LA
2nd Dreamhack
2nd WonderBase
2nd NGL One Finals
If PGS doesn't have a new team they will continue to make money from ZoneRank, just look how much NiP has made since they have stopped :)
But as Chris0 said, the ZoneRank system is ridiculous. They should more likely organize some tournaments instead of giving money for free that way.
