LIFE:
Malystryx: Can you introduce yourself to the readers and why they might have heard of you?
Tentpole: Hey! I'm just a regular guy called Kristoffer living in a suburb to Stockholm called Upplands Väsby. You might have heard of me because of my stay in known teams such as Begrip, NiP, fnatic and now SK but also because of my achievements like for example winning the CPL and WEG.
Malystryx: So since we’re entering the festive season, what are your plans for Christmas & New Year?
Tentpole: My plans are just to stay at home and enjoy life with friends and family. On Christmas eve I'll just be with my whole family the entire day watching the traditional TV shows, eating great food and opening gifts. At New Year I'll probably go out have some fun with all my friends that are home over the holidays and try to not fall asleep in some ditch =D
Malystryx: Are you expecting any interesting presents this Christmas? Perhaps a plastic ak47? Is Mr Tentpole generous with his Christmas presents?
Tentpole: I'm not really in to the whole war concept IRL so I think a plastic AK47 is out of the question =) I'll probably get loads of stuff for my new apartment, I'm moving the 1st of February. And about my generosity, well, I try to find a gift that each and everyone really want so I basically just ask them and buy whatever they want the most, as long as it's within limits. I can't afford to give away cars =(
Malystryx: Let’s move onto your “interesting” username, I’m hoping it does not originate from a camping trip, where and why did you pick your username?
Tentpole: Cool, a new question never before asked!! =DDD A long, long time ago..Nah seriously, I got it from the “NO CAMPING” Half-Life spray thingy with a tent and some sh*t on it and since I was a little kiddo back then I thought it sounded cool and funny and I've just kept it ever since.
Malystryx: Aside from Counter-Strike what other hobbies or sports do you fit around your E-Sports life? I hear your into weight lifting?
Tentpole: Yeah, weight lifting is one of the healthy things I really enjoy doing. I try to go to the gym 4 times a week if I'm not bootcamping or playing some tournament and I always bring like 2-4 friends so we can talk some smack and have fun while training. But it's nothing serious really, it's fun and good for your body at the same time, why not do it? =)
Malystryx: How important do you think keeping an active/healthy life is? Have you always been into keeping fit? Do you think it gives you an edge when it comes to gaming?
Tentpole: Well I wouldn't say I'm the right person to ask what it's like being fit and playing CS..don't ask the fat guy!!! =DDD Jokes aside I do think being active and healthy can improve your game in some way, at least your concentration. I know from own experiences that if I can chill and be at home for a while, go to the gym etc I slightly improve my game. It's good getting your aggressions out on the weights and not on something else and I always notice a difference in my level of concentration which is a pretty important part of gaming for me.
Malystryx: Have you gone or plan to go into higher education, University for example?
Tentpole: I've got no plans for that right now. In Sweden it's pretty easy to get a pretty good job without more than a high school diploma, and besides, I'm thinking about maybe starting my own company in a few years.
Malystryx: How much of an interest do you pay to the E-Sports scene (not just Counter-Strike), reading news items, coverage, watching demos etc…?
Tentpole: When it comes to the 1.6 scene I like keeping an eye on everything. I try to watch big games on HLTV as often as I can and I really enjoy watching good in-eye demos. Actually I'd say most of the things I know about CS and the things I do in-game are because of watching demos of the best players in the world. I got no real talent for CS, like players such as f0rest etc, which means I basically gotta study the game a lot and not just play play play to become good.
The e-sports scene outside of 1.6 isn't really important to me, I don't like wasting time on things I don't get anything back from.
Counter-Strike:
Malystryx: Your one of a host of Swedish Counter-Strike players to join SK Gaming, what in your opinion makes you different or special?
Tentpole: I don't really know what makes me different or special from any other CS player, it's better to ask the ones playing with me. Walle brought me in to SK when NiP dissolved and some people in and around the SK organisation wasn't so sure of me but several of them has now said they're really impressed by me so I guess I'm doing something right at least =P
Malystryx: Let’s go back in time a little, was their a defining match or moment that made you realize that you might actually be quite good at Counter-Strike, perhaps some crazy clutch round? Could you tell us about it?
Tentpole: I can't really say a precise moment or match that made me know I'm gonna be good at CS. When I think back several years from now, being an unknown player in some half decent team, I guess I always knew I could become a good player. I really don't know how but one thing I definitely know is that I wouldn't have continued playing a lot unless I knew I could become good. I would've just played with friends from time to time to have some fun. As I said before, not wasting time is a big deal for me =)
Malystryx: What is your role in-game within the SK Gaming CS team?
Tentpole: I'm pretty much just a slave under the big walle's command and I just do what I'm told =D Of course I'll give my opinion on tactics and things I think might work but other than that I just try to play the best I can so my team can win.
Malystryx: What is your role outside of the game within the SK Gaming CS team? (joker, party guy, motivator etc…)
Tentpole: That's a pretty hard question considering we haven't been together that long yet. I'd say I've got no role really, I just try to have fun with the guys and not be a bad friend or anything I guess. Hmm, actually, one role I do have is taking care of allen because he is a p12 haha! =D (swedish for a little kiddo)
Malystryx: What were your favourite matches that you played in in 2007?
Tentpole: The roccat game in L.A is definitely one of my favourite matches during 07, they are always a good opponent and we barely got out on top. Another one is when we won vs fnatic 16-14 at DH, beating ze f0rest is always fun =)))
Malystryx: What about favourite matches you did not play in? (HLTV,demos etc…) at ESWC for example or another CS tournaments?
Tentpole: Hmm, that would have to be the PGS vs NoA final at ESWC this summer. I was in the audience together with several thousands of other people. Almost everyone was screaming and the match itself was really exciting!
Malystryx: I myself play a little Counter-Strike but I find it sometimes a little boring that a large portion of the weapons available are never used, do you think it is a shame so many weapons just gather dust in the shop and everyone uses the same weapons ak47/m4/awp?
Tentpole: Well there's a reason why people use those weapons and that is because they're good. There's no point in using bad weapons just cause you can, at least not in competitive CS.
Malystryx: Would you be interested in playing in a tournament where the popular weapons were banned? Perhaps this could spice things up once in a while?
Tentpole: Nah not really. For me CS is something you compete in and removing the good weapons everyone is used to would just ruin the competition. Sorry for being dull =(
Malystryx: What are you views on the whole CGS / Counter-Strike Source / CS Pro Mod scenario?
Tentpole: I think source and promod are lousy imitations of 1.6 and I wish they'd just go away =D I haven't had the chance to see much of CGS, mainly because of source, but it seems to be a really nice concept and it sure is good for the e-sports scene even though Source is a bad choice!
Malystryx: Could you tell us a little about each member of the SK.CS team and their habits within the team, in and outside the game?
Tentpole:
Walle: Definitely one of the best in-game leaders out there and a legend of the game. Very calm person but sometimes he screams some bad swedish words out really loud and that's funny every time it happens =D He is from the northern of Sweden where everyone always drink a lot of alcohol, Denka is no exception =)
Spawn: Great aimer with an offensive style and huge amount of experience from large tournaments. Abdi is the cool hiphop dude irl and often in a good mood which is good for team chemistry. The only time he isn't happy is when we are playing from home, he just loves bootcamping at Inferno-Online =D
Robban: Great player I think people too often underrate. He does wonders for the team and is so easy and fun to play with. Robban is a good friend of mine since the time we played in Embrace and Begrip together and he was probably the biggest reason I wanted to play with this team. He has sometimes showed some real party animal skills, like the time when he just ran off with Pentagram the very first night of WEG in Korea without barely knowing them (except Neo) and stayed out all night =D
Get_Right: First off, this guy is younger than allen, lol is that possible? =DDD Awesome player with great individual skills. He's pretty new to the top CS scene and will definitely be someone to count on in the future. And is he annoying? Of course, he is younger than allen for god's sake!
Allen: Another highly skilled player which has really proved himself lately. During my time in SK he has been playing incredibly well, often carrying the team, at the big tournaments. That's what I admire in a player. Outside the game he's a great person to be with, always funny and sometimes never stops talking. Did I mention he is p12?
Malystryx: Finally what are you plans for the future, for Counter-Strike as well as another popular game called life?
Tentpole: Life, wtf? =D As I said before, my dream is to get my own company up and running but that's never an easy task so I guess time will tell what happens. And for now I just wanna keep playing with SK and try to become the best team in the world.
Malystryx: Any Shoutouts?
Tentpole: Thanks to SK and our sponsors for making everything possible, great job bds with the new site btw! Also big thanks to Inferno-online, the best internet cafe I've ever been to, for letting us bootcamp and become a better team. Sorry allen for the p12 jokes =( And finally thank you all fans for supporting us!
Big Thanks to SK.Tentpole for doing the interview swiftly and with passion!
