Former 4Kings.Intel and human ace ToD and his superior, the immortal World Elite star, Sky. If either human moves the way of SK Gaming, competitive team based Warcraft will be left with an unassailable and unbeatable superpower.
ToD's departure effectively castrated 4kings.Intel as an international contender. The first W3CL finals in five seasons without the British based organisation was proof enough of the cataclysmic change of fortune since season XI, where the team placed a disappointing second and duly lost their title to one of the best all Asian line ups ever assembled.
WE.IGE.Sky – WE.IGE.Lyn – WE.IGE.ReMinD - WE.IGN.Soju – WE.IGN.ReiGn
Three of the former now preside in season XI winners, SK Gaming. Who effortlessly took apart Meet Your Makers without the need of the winner bracket nor the two versus two for that matter. The NGL whitewash the following week reinforced the point. The gulf between the (W3CL)LAN finalists was quite surprising and the gap between the top teams and those in the lower end of the W3CL is even more startling.
Player transfers and the collapse of fnatic has left a number of teams visibly struggling. Does the prospect of another repeat of this seasons WC3L finals, at least teams wise, look all too surprising? mTw.PokerRoom replaced players and are arguably stronger, 4Kings.Intel are weaker, Mousesports.Wazap have stagnated and none look strong enough to compete with either Beijing eSports Team and World Elite; MYM and SK's position at the top of the tree are substantially more secure and indisputable.
The Problem
SK has two of the best Night elves currently playing, the best two versus team in the world, the best Orc in the world, the best European Night elf and two more than capable human players. They've depth and talent in abundance.
Of the three other teams in contention, they're in their own way, lopsided or at a significant disadvantage. Either being too race heavy, or not obtaining enough skill and depth. Most importantly, both MYM and BeT lack even one world class human player.
The Solution
Why Sky and ToD? Well it essentially applies to Sky first and foremost, but ToD's recent departure from 4Kings.Intel leaves Sky's options more limited. Sky as it stands is the best human player in the world. He's also without a doubt, one of the most skilled players currently playing, regardless of race, regardless of map or opponent. Anyone ranking him outside of the top three, either under rates his worth or dismisses his skill because of his race.

Given the right conditions, Sky is, ridiculously dominant. His performances at the World Cyber Games and the WC3L LAN finals are nothing short of mind blowing. He's not a online player, but for MYM, that isn't an issue. Granted they had three of the top four players to emerge from the WC3L regular online season, and Moon wasn't one of them. Getting Sky to the LAN finals of a team based event shouldn't be a significant worry.
If MYM signed Sky, it would cost them roughly in the region of $5,000-$10,000 (or so I'm led to believe!) to prize him away from World Elite. But more importantly, they would have at their disposal, in form, the two best players in the world and considerably bridge the gap that is now developing between SK and the rest of the Warcraft world.
For SK, ToD is the more affordable and appropriate option. He's European, has played with SK before and is without a team. Sky would be an expensive alternative but the most talented player to replace Insomnia without a shadow of a doubt.
This as a consequence gives both MYM and BeT some breathing room if either decided to strengthen their squads with the aforementioned players. Both present reasonably viable destinations for both ToD as well as Sky, and both organisations have the finical backing to sign such players.
The locations and language barriers haven't proved an issue in the past, so all that is stopping the moves, would be the almost certain unwillingness that WE would've in selling their best player and ToD agreeing terms with any respective team.
What is clear though, either MYM or BeT needs to stop SK establishing a monopoly in Warcraft III and the prospect of Moon and Sky fighting alongside each other is one thought that even SK fears. It's time for the national treasure of China to decide the fate of team based Warcraft III and I urge him to consider the saying; if you can't beat 'um, join 'um.

"The vast majority of his premature exits have been at the hand of the eventual winner, quite an unfortunate but telling statement about the caliber of player he is."

And Sky is already a living legend of his country, his salary is top1 China for sure.So there's no point in leaving.
btw sayin' that Bet is less skilled than SK is bs.I'd say Fov/Sweet ~ Lyn/Soju/ReMinD,even the 2v2 of Bet is very strong.WhO imo is much more talented than XlorD.Note to mention that Check/Swain are no less than HoT/Miou and somewhat better cuz they're classic, they could beat anyone suddenly. In conclusion Bet=SK,players' shape decide all.
WC3L
1.SK
...
...
4.BeT
:(
If you would always take results like the WC3L finals to compare teams, it would be weird. If you go on like this, BeT would have won the WC3L finals because BeT beat all finalists during the online season while the others all lost to two finalists.
Not really care about the game anymore but this is true.Neither Moon nor Sky are a strong force to rely on online.
SK is very strong lately with the recent additions no doubt about it but you can't imply that SK the undisputed champion.
Of course evan has a point here regarding the things that happen in the scene lately. And in my opinion if both tod and sky joins SK or MYM then we can definitely talk about establishing a monopoly.ANd if that happens wc3 will die.
It prooves nothing except than sk is among the 3 best team ATM nothing more.
"But more importantly, they would have at their disposal, in form, the two best players in the world and considerably bridge the gap that is now developing between SK and the rest of the Warcraft world."
RIDICULOUS.
Nice done Mr SmartBiased
Sorry what? Winning WC3L and leading NGL (and having beaten MYM/4K already) and being undefeated at the same time doesn't mean they're the best team in the world right now?
Do you even know who has won the majority of individual tournaments this year? How is saying that if MYM bought Sky, they would've possibly the two best individual players in the world, 'RIDICULOUS.' ?
It's the same with the players. Would you say Moon or Lyn or Sky is the best player worldwide? I'd say there is a Top10/15 that can beat each other, depending on daily shape.
For me, it sounds like the other WC3L teams do not have a shot on taking in new players at all.
Besides that, the article is very well written with some exaggerations which are okay, since it's the authors point of view.
Good job overall.
nice read :)
In my opinion 4Kings is the only team which was capable of being there (LAN finals) but obviously ToD has left now as well, and if you're looking for straight comparisions Sky is the only human equal or better than him and 4Kings chances of getting him are quite slim.
I thought that ToD whould already be signed by now =D
sky won leave we due to money
4K used to be able to win any match regardless of the current state of affairs with regards to game balance because the players used to be at an extremely high level.
With regards to my use of "could", i should have used "would" which is a lot more accurate to describe the old 4K. They had an amazing winning streak which used to span over months and months, currently something which SK is working towards, but hasn't yet got to.
'either MYM or BeT needs to stop SK establishing a monopoly in Warcraft III...' - Again, observe the usage of establishing instead of making a concrete statement.
This is very basic stuff, I'm guessing you either basically skimmed the article or lack any real reading skills. Individual performance as I've mentioned time and time again in replies, has next to no bearing on why SK is the best team at the moment.
everyone has the right to deside his thing, just like 4k has brought tod to a top player for several years and several years money.when 4k is not such a strong team, tod choose leave 4k.he argue with fury and grubby who helped him when he was a low level player.
"some european player just think hum is imba,so they don't train hard."
"But more importantly, they would have at their disposal, in form, the two best players in the world and considerably bridge the gap that is now developing between SK and the rest of the Warcraft world."
A huge exageration! SK won the WC3L yes but have nothing close to the dominance 4K had in earlier seasons.
In regards to ToD and Sky I do not think Sky will leave World Elite and I doubt he would go to MYM or SK. I doubt SK will delve into the market again unless one of their players left. I also extremely doubt SK will stray for its consistent balance of european and asian players. Sky remained even when Soju/Lyn/Remind departed, I envision some Chinese loyalty!
Also be better if you supported your statements with facts:
""SK has two of the best Night elves currently playing"
"the best European Night elf " (Satiini? pretty good online :o)
Overall a good article in terms of length, language and structure but overly biased and too many swopping generalisations :) Evidence to back statements would be better, otherwise just sound like Carmac before he learnt anything about Warcraft3 ;>
Comparative dominance means next to nothing, it's like comparing the Real Madrid side of the 50s and the Manchester United of the 90s. Different players and competitiveness of the scene make it rather pointless.
Is it really needed? I mean I don't think many would argue against saying Soju and ReMinD being two of the best elves. I mentioned that they had won WC3L the previous season as part of the best all Asian lineup ever assembled. The power of implication means they're 'decent' ;D
Satiini is good but chronically house bound which makes him useless to any decent team with aspirations. Creo's retirement meant HoT picked up the title.
The question is whether ToD will want to be part of the next WC3L Season especially in particular with so few tournaments that happen in the early stages of the year. :)
IMO World Elite will recruit some of the wNv guys or vice-versa.
Agree to be honest, I can see ToD purely playing in solo competitions and paying his own way, at least for the time being.
