After weeks of Pre-Qualifiers and the Qualification Rounds, the ESL Extreme Masters Season 2 is finally starting today. The first two matches of Group A are being played with SoA vs fnatic and PGSPokerstrategy.com vs Virtus.Pro. The matches are being played in a Best-of-Three mode which means both teams can eliminate maps and then pick from the remaining ones, the first team to win two maps wins the match and gets three points.

SoA just returned from the BattleIT 2007 where they placed second but were able to win a map against NoA and had some great matches there. Still looking at past results, fnatic is the favorite here but everything can happen when three maps are being played. Other than that, Virtus.Pro also just returned from the ASUS Autumn 2007 where they placed second right behind CMAX.gg. The match is being broadcasted by ESL-TV but will most likely be in German.
