According to People's Daily Online magazine, China's police is using the Counter-Strike game as a tool of anti-terrorism.

Last Wednesday over 300 local polices with their greenish uniforms gathered to play Counter-Strike in a three-day competition, which was held at a local Internet cafe in the city of Tianjin. The competition was announced in March, and back then many police officers were enthusiastic to enter in.
"The competition is organized to sharpen anti-terrorist skills of Tianjin's police force, as we find the nature of the game very similar to that of our daily practice," said one of the event's organizers, Zhang Bin.
Han Zhen, a tactical instructor of Tianjin police says the game is so realistic, and not to mention how it boosts police officers knowledge of terrorism. "In particular, it trains our officers in the use of weapons and taking advantage of different terrains, and is also a test of mental strength in a duel with a terrorist. Enhancing police forces through technology," he continued.
Using Counter-Strike as a training tool for anti-terrorism, the officers found out that it gives an eminent improvement to self-protection on field missions.
The training will not end into this competition, as borrowing Bin's words; "they play, or should I say train, after work".
