Zonerank has been around for quite a while already with their rankings for Counter-Strike, Warcraft III and Quake IV giving out points to teams and players attending big eSports events.
With these points they get ranked and can earn money depending on their rank in the standings. Today the G7 announced their cooperation, with Zonerank being the official system used by the G7 teams which includes SK Gaming, fnatic, wNv and other top teams. G7 wants to improve and represent the eSports and it's teams, but also providing a platform for stability for the teams, and also helping with different issues such as missing prize moneys, which happened a few weeks ago.
Below you can read a statement of Alexander T. Müller-Rodic (SK Gaming) and Jeremie Kletzkine (Business Development Manager, Zonerank):
Alexander T. Müller-Rodic (SK Gaming)
We have looked at the pros and cons of established ranking systems and have discussed them internally to ascertain what improvements need to be made to ensure the best and most detailed system possible. After we understood what the calculation method should include, we began our dialogue with Zonerank.
The discussions have been very positive and we are happy that Zonerank accepts our input and are willing to adjust their formula where necessary. The ranking we will see on 1st July is the result of great cooperation.
Jeremie Kletzkine (Business Development Manager, Zonerank)
The G7 gathers the pioneer teams of the scene, who essentially founded the professional eSports scene. The G7 organization's role is paramount in promoting the cooperation between all the major parties within the industry. Their input strongly reinforces the relevance of the World eSports Ranking system.

Including SHG, Spixelania AND ASUS CUP?! but not Extreme Masters and SEC. Biggest joke ever :)
If they want to make a fair ranking, they should look into doing something like Gosugamers has for WC3, including every single match and not only the major tournaments.
"The ranking we will see on 1st July is the result of great cooperation."
The ranking of the 1st of July will be the first "true" ranking, changes has been made to their formula in cooperation with the G7 teams.
erh :D hello*
But at the moment ZoneRank are throwing money away and not improving the scene, when they realise nothing is benefiting from their money, apart from making the rich teams richer, the money will stop and all you will be left with is a crap ranking system based on old results with old lineups against random opponents.
Dire
If you were a member of one of the teams that get paid every month you wouldnt say so :D.
