QuakeCon is a huge LAN party dedicated to fans of id Software's games (i.e., Quake, Quake 2, and Quake III Arena, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory, and the DOOM series). For it's 12th anual edition, the Quakecon BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) Area will cover 70,000 square feet of floor space and 2,700 player spots (1,000 more seats than 2006). This summer the Quakecon will take place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas, from August 2-5, 2007. The event starts in the morning on the 2nd and continues until noon on the 5th. The registrations started yesterday and there is already arround 2400 players who signed up for the event. The official statement at Quakecon.org is the following: Registration has been open for two and a half hours, and we've already had almost 2400 people sign-up from 16 countries. It took only 5 minutes and 8 seconds for the first 1000 people to register. The entire QuakeCon organisation is thrilled to have so many eager gamers racing to claim their spot.
