The nominations were in three different games (Quake 4, Counter-Strike and WarCraft 3) with two categories for each. Each game had a nomination for "Player of 2006" as well as "Revelation of 2006". Gaming journalists from various websites casted their 3 top choices for all 6 categories, first choice received 5 points, second choice 3 points and third choice 1 points.
