AMD to Close Their Figurehead

The year is coming to an end and with the new year a lot of changes are made in the eSport scene. One of the most tragical is for sure the end of Team64.AMD one of the most popular teams in Germany, which got closed due to a restructurization of it's brand sponsor AMD. Only a few months ago, AMD attracted the attention of the scene when they bought ATI and announced the big deal with the CPL and the WCG, which underlined their position as a global player in the field of eSport sponsoring. Team64 existed for almost exactly three years and had their peak with the victory of the WC3L Finals in Copenhagen, with popular players such as 64AMD.ElakeDuck and 64AMD.Deadman. But they were also known for their Fifa squad, who performed well at severall seasons of the ESL Pro Series and their Counterstrike squad who was able to beat the at this time unbeatable SK Sweden at the CXG in the USA in 2003. So far, the future of the players and the staff is uncertain and AMD didn't announce any other changes in their sponsoring activities so far. We wish all the former members of the team good luck for the future and hope they will find a new home soon. Of course SK-Gaming.com will keep you updated about any further announcements.
