ESWC 2006 Draw Pools Announced
Today the ESWC´s Organizing Comitee announced the draw pools that will lead the drawing of the groups of the first phase. Like in the past year, the players are divided into three groups: the Top-seed Pool, High-seed Pool and the Medium-seed Pool and the remaining players are placed in the Challengers Pool. Using this system, one player from each pool with a number of players from the Challenger pool which can vary from 3 to 5, the groups tend to be more balanced avoiding the favourites facing each other in the early rounds and players from the same nationality either. Participants are seeded into the draw pools according to a rating of each country’s strength and the results of each national final. The countries’ rating is established according to the results of participants from the country in previous editions of the Electronic Sports World Cup and other major competitions. About the nationality: if one player is drawed and his nationality already has a representant in that group, he is put aside and another player will be drawn. In the last group, if the player´s nationality is already in the group, he will be not put aside and will be put together in that group. Take a look now at the draw pools for each game: Counter Strike Male Counter Strike Female WarCraft III Quake 4 Pro Evolution Soccer 5

- First of all if your country has performed well the year before you ll get good spots. Poland never did, Neither did Zeus in Warcraft3, USA never got serveral teams in top4, etc... Last year France got a team in top 8 so did china, south corea, UUSA, Germany, ...
- If your country has several spots, you wont get your teams in the same "level group", that is because one obviously won and the other lost :). That is why fnatic is in group 2.
- Finally USA have two top seeds because CoL are defending champions and have therefore a top seed. And 3D won the USA qualifier and therefore topseed too.
and fnatic should be in the top seed instead of soa and/or virtus.pro - both of the teams are a bit overrated :E
:D
gl w1 and atL :)
we will see ;)
