On the 17th of February, a revolution in professional gaming as we know happened. After several problems with its most important sponsors, NVIDIA and Intel, the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) decided to establish a partnership with Games Media Properties, a venture of the William Morris Agency, in order to successfully organize the upcoming World Series of Video Games (WSVG), an international gaming competition and festival, whose structure is very similar to the one that the CPL World Tour used.

The World Series of Video Games will be the first video game competition circuit on multiple gaming platforms. The 3-5 day events will be open to the public and will encompass 150,000 square feet of tournaments, exhibitions, concerts and other attractions.
Today, the WSVG' organisation is pleased to announce three new international tournaments that will inserted in the competition circuit. These new tournaments will be held in the United Kingdom, Brazil and China.
"Europe, Asia, and South America are home to many of today's top competitive gamers who now have the opportunity to showcase their skill for the chance to be named world champion at the WSVG final tournament event," said Scott Valencia, Executive Vice President of Games Media Properties. "We are thrilled to extend the competition to the international community and to be bringing the first major gaming event to England."
The Brazilian tournament will take place in São Paulo from the 4th to the 6th of August as part of the Arena Gamer Experience. The event will feature the following games: Counter Strike 1.6, Warcraft III and Quake 4.
The UK tournament will take place in London, England, from the 13th to the 15th of October at Earl's Court. This event will have the following games: Counter Strike 1.6, Warcraft III and Quake 4.
As for the Chinese event, it will take place in Beijing and will be played using Counter-Strike 1.6 and Warcraft III. The official dates and location are yet to announce.
While the top two winners of each circuit tournament will have a fully paid trip to the championship event, only the winner of each event will receive "cash and other prizes".
As for the championship event, the winner of the Counter-Strike event will get $50,000 cash, a Rolex watch for each player, WSVG Gaming Computers and a trophy. The second placed team will get $25,000 cash, WSVG Gaming Computers and a trophy, while the third placed team will get $10,000 cash, WSVG Gaming Computers and a trophy. The teams that place 4th-16th will get WSVG Gaming computers.
The prizing distribution for the Warcraft III, Quake 4, Halo2, and Project Gotham Racing 3 championship tournaments will consist of "$20,000 cash, a Rolex watch for each player, WSVG Gaming computer, and Trophy for 1st place; $10,000 cash, WSVG Gaming computer, and Trophy for 2nd place; $5,000 cash, WSVG Gaming computer, and Trophy for 3rd place and WSVG Gaming computer for 4th-16th places."
"Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter final prizing structure is $12,000 cash for 1st place; $4,000 cash for 2nd place and $2,000 cash for 3rd place."
