KODE5 Launches KODE5 Latin America

KODE5 today announced their Latin America qualifiers in Paraguay, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Argentina. All events will feature qualifiers for Counter-Strike 1.6 while only some of them will also host qualifiers for Warcraft III and Quake 4. The winners of these events will be able to compete in the Latin American Final. The Latin American Final will be held in Santiago, Chile from July 28 to July 30 and promises to be a big event with a lot of side events and attractions.


(Santiago, CHILE) – May 2, 2006 – With German and Taiwanese events already announced, word of the KODE5 Global Gaming Revolution is spreading at a rapid pace. Today, KODE5, in association with LanParty Chile and SouthFrag, are pleased to add KODE5 Latin America to the growing list of KODE5 events. KODE5 Latin America holds Quake 4, Counter-Strike 1.6, and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne qualifiers across 5 Latin American countries. The top gamers from each region will then do battle at the KODE5 Latin American Final, this year held in Santiago, Chile. Featuring music concerts, PC clinics, a 500-seat BYOC and more, the KODE5 Latin American Finals will be an event to remember. The KODE5 Global Gaming Revolution is supported globally by Foxconn and Corsair Memory, and takes competitive gaming to an international stage with events being held in 20+ countries worldwide.

KODE5 Latin American Qualifiers
From April to June, LanParty Chile and SouthFrag will bring KODE5 Latin American qualifiers to gamers around the world. Participating countries include:
Paraguay Counter-Strike 1.6
Venezuela Counter-Strike 1.6, Quake 4
Brazil Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft 3
Peru Counter-Strike 1.6, Quake 4, Warcraft 3
Argentina Counter-Strike 1.6
LanParty Chile, formerly Tarreo, is a nationwide organization that produces videogame related events since 1999 oriented to provide players and spectators LAN competitions with prizes and huge media attention from the local TV, Radio and Newspapers. LanParty also has organized several international events bringing the experience of the organization to the continent. Now LanParty produces events for several mainstream companies and organizations in Chile and also operates the Latin American gaming league known as SouthFrag.
“We are very proud work with KODE5. KODE5 took the vision of gamers themselves to a new competitive style that will bring back e-sports to the community itself,” says Claudio Uson, LanParty Managing Director.
SouthFrag is an international alliance of tournaments organizers in Latin America. Including the SouthFrag project the best players will play at our invitational competitions with big prizes and mainstream attention, also SouthFrag will manage the best teams and players to be ambassadors of the organization at the mainstream. Current countries being part of the SouthFrag organization include Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela.

KODE5 Latin American Finals
The KODE5 Latin American Finals will take place at the ExpoCenter Espacio Riesco in Santiago, Chile from July 28 to July 30. Produced by LanParty Chile, Counter-Strike teams, Quake 4 players and Warcraft 3 players from all over the world are expected to be in attendance. In addition to the official KODE5 Latin American tournaments, the event will feature music concerts, conferences, shootouts, PC clinics, PC DIY contests, and a 500-seat BYOC with space for up to 200 onsite spectators.

Media partners for the KODE5 Latin American Finals include national TV network Red TV (www.redtv.cl), national newspaper El Mercurio (www.emol.com), and national technology magazine Punto NET (www.terra.cl/puntonet).
