miniw Speaks About His Future
As you could read earlier today ( Source ) Jonatan "miniw" Wallenberg decided to leave Team SpeedLink and take a break from Counter-Strike at the highest level. As he reveals in an interview with SK-Gaming.com he isn't done with CS yet though as he is hoping to land a nice deal with a top tier team. Of course his first choice would be to join NiP where his brother Dennis "Walle" Wallenberg is playing, because according to him this is what gives him the most joy when playing Counter-Strike. Although Jonatan had great fun in SpeedLink, he thinks he was not getting enough satisfaction from his team for the time spent playing the game. Combined with the lack of major events in the first half of 2006 miniw decided to take a break from Team SpeedLink and look for other opportunities. Keep on reading for the full interview.
Could you tell us why you decided to go inactive ?
The reason to why I went inactive is simply because I don't enjoy playing at high level at this time
Does the fact that there are no major events untill the summer have anything to do with that decision is or it more that you arent rewarded enough for the time spent training?
Well, I guess it has to do with both. I was really looking forward to play the CPL world tour, and since they cancelled that it doesn't give me much to continue playing during the summer. And for the rewarded part; it sucked :)
You have played for NiP a few times with Potti being inactive and Robban not being able to play, how was it like to play with these real professionals ?
It was really fun. I enjoy the game at the most when I'm playing with my brother so. It's always fun to play with him :)
So the only way for you to have fun is to join up with NiP, with Potti being inactive there is an open spot. What do you think you are missing to join up with NiP ? And what makes you the perfect 5th NiP member ?
Yea, either that or to get a really good offer I just can't refuse. I guess that right now I'm missing the time to like go away for 2 months playing, and doing PR. The perfect 5th player? :) I guess no player is perfect. But it feels like me and my brother completes eachother when we're playing together. So we'll go with that.
Are you too young to go fully profesional or do you think its possible to combine studying and CS at the highest level ?
I am young :). But since school doesnt take up that make of my free time its possible :) Seeing as I only go to school once a week
What moment or lessons will you never forget from your time with SpeedLink ?
I guess that one time we beated SK at the WCG-Qualifier. The time we spent in Singapore during WCG. It's many great memories, we always had a great time in Speedlink :)
Next month we'll probably will be seeing the first announcements for qualifiers for the major summer events. What are the chances we'll see you joining a team before the summer ? I'm sure you won't want to miss out on your first ESWC event.
Well, as I said. I won't continue playing at high level unless I get an offer I can't refuse. So there's a chance. No, of course I dont want to miss out on that :)
Thank you for you time and good luck at the coming summer events, any last words or shoutouts ?
Thanks to you too. Creds to SPEED-LINK, brännarklubben crew, Professor crew and LfB crew!
