It has been announced today that the legendary Counter-Strike veteran Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson will be taking a step back as a player in the Counter-Strike scene for a while.
Potti has been playing professionally in some of the world's best teams for many years now, and has racked up a huge number of prestigious awards in this time - winning nine CPL events isn't something everyone can add to their list of achievements.
From his days playing for NiP and Team9 back in the early 2000's - to his domination with SK.swe in 2003, and his time with the revived NiP team over the past several months; he has always been known as one of the best players in the world. But with today comes the inactivity of this amazing player. It is currently unknown how long this time of inactiveness will be, but hopefully this will be announced sometime in the near future.
With Potti going inactive, Ninjas in Pyjamas would have been down to only four men, but a new player has been temporarily recruited to fill the void in the squad. The new player is none other than Robert "RobbaN" Dahlström - who is playing for the Swedish squad of Begrip Gaming, who amongst other things managed to win the WEG2 event last year, and place sixth at the CPL Winter 2005 event.
The new line-up for the Ninjas in Pyjamas team can now be found below:
Emil "HeatoN" Christensen
Oskar "ins" Holm
Robert "RobbaN" Dahlström (Stand-in)
Dennis "walle" Wallenberg
Marcus "zet" Sundström
Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson (Inactive)
RobbaN's team - Begrip Gaming, have undergone a number of big changes since the start of this year. First both Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Kristoffer "Tentpole" Nordlund departed to join the newly formed fnatic squad, then a month later the departure of Jonas "Calippo" Nilsson was also announced. With RobbaN now not activley playing either, it seems that all may be lost for the once great squad of Begrip.
Although RobbaN may lack the years of top international experience that Potti has, skill-wise he is definitely up there with the rest of the NiP squad. It will be interesting to see how this change in roster affects the NiP team. RobbaN is definitely a skilled player, but whether or not he can match up to Potti will be the question on everyone's minds in the time that he is playing for NiP.
Ninjas in Pyjamas have just started a two week bootcamp in Sweden with the top American team "compLexity". They will be bootcamping to prepare for the various events of this year and just to train in general. We hope both teams have a great time!
We wish the best of luck to the Ninjas in Pyjamas with their temporary player RobbaN, and to Potti in his next ventures!
