At the official CPL Forums, Angel Munoz has posted a thread about the latest BenQ FP93GX 19" LCD monitor.
The opening post holds information about the specifications, and how good it's supposed to perform in FPS games. Further down Angel states:
"We have listened to opinions on this matter for years and have delayed the unavoidable as much as we can. CRTs are simply a thing of the past, and from an operations point of view, hard to obtain, expensive to ship, a pain to unpack and setup, etc.
I was happy to see that BenQ has introduced what seems like a good solution and we are excited to offer their newest technological innovation at our tournaments. We strongly recommend that the community tests this product before posting opinions. Go to a local store and ask to play a game on one."
Most likely CPL will use this new monitor in their Counter-Strike and Quake 4 tournaments at the CPL World Tour.
A little more than a month ago I posted my feature called 10 Gamers On TFT Screens which quite clearly stated the top players opinions, that CRT is still far superior in fast paced games. Will this new monitor revolutionize the competitive gaming scene? Is this the time when TFT will take over the tournaments for real? Will it perform as good? Only the future can tell.

i'm sure tft monitors will improve and reach crt gaming quality
Come on CPL. :c
JUST a monitor...? I think you have no idea what you are talking about.
not to mention that those babies consume less power, take away less space, are easier and cheaper to transport, look better, have better image quality... :D and the companies that make them are very open to sponsoring events with their hardware and money - try finding a CRT maker willing to do that on a larger scale ;)
ALL the TFTs monitor that Ive tested had blur on fast paced fps games, even the ones with 2ms.
"the native is by far better than on ur CRT. The picture is fuckin sharp and clear so u get the same quality at the TFT at 800x600 for example."
Wrong!
Use a CRT with "Streifenmaske" (dont know the english word for it). Sharp as a TFT, but no TFT-disadvantages. The quality is much better...
So, please don't compare your noname CRT with a TFT. Buy a good Trinition and you will see the difference...
They are running at 75hz atm. So no point in discussing the socalled reaction times on them. 75hz is your limit, done and over with it.
And if people come up with their 4ms or lower factory propaganda, please look at some proper reviews first. Even the socalled fastest screens are still only doing a real 14ms. CRT's do up to a real 5ms, though they work a bit differently.
For any doubters just check the graph at the bottom of this review.

I like ESWC with their CRT :)
Horizontal Frequency (Max) KHz 31 - 81 KHz
Vertical Frequency (Max)Hz 60 - 76 Hz
Actually the only thing fps influences about recoil is the visual closing and opening speed of your crosshair. Higher fps makes it go wide faster but also close faster.
Ohh and ofcourse the jumping "feeling". Just try 100 fps and 500 fps in dev mode. 500 fps feels kinda odd ;) My guess is it's kinda like the same thing Q2 and Q3 had with high fps jumping that allowed to go a bit extra high/far. But really gotta ask a quake player about that ;)
The TFT's sold as 2ms is kinda false marketing. 2ms is the fastest it can deliver, which would be in a perfect situation. The average response time is about 15ms.
so pls stfu saying "CRT > TFT" this is not really the truth ;)
maxfps cs = 101
maxfps q4 = 63
Which means that Q4 players can play with vsync on.
