Dignitas gain Quake 4 Squad + Interview

By Nick 'nickh' Hamilton
Nov 6, 2005 23:02

The Quake 4 scene is really getting into full swing now; more and more squads are being added to top gaming organisations, and this one is no exception.

After the announcement of mTw's Quake 4 squad consisting of some of Team Dignitas' players, it was obvious that they needed to recruit a new Quake 4 squad. That squad has now been announced by the organisation, and the players have come from none other than the top Quake team Demonic Core.
Demonic Core have been a top clan in the Quake scene for quite a while now, the players who have now moved to Team Dignitas have got an immense amount of experience in this game genre, and will definitely prove to be a good pick-up for the organisation. After playing in various highly skilled teams on different games, these guys will really put on good show.
Part of the official announcement from the organisation can be found below:
“We are extremely pleased and excited to announce our fantastic new line up for Quake 4. We would like to introduce the new Team Dignitas squad, who join us with a high pedigree as they were formally from the famous Quake clan Demonic Core; we welcome them to our organization.”

I've almost managed to catch up with the Dignitas Team Manager - Michael O'Dell, to get a few comments from him:
Team Dignitas' new Quake 4 team was announced earlier this evening, what are your thoughts on your new players?
I am genuinely excited about them joining us and I cannot wait to see them in competitive action. I have personally played with some of them so I know what they are capable of.
After playing numerous deathmatch style games, how well has the new squad adapted to the new Quake 4 game?
From what I have seen and also from what I have been told they have been playing almost 24/7 practicing. The guys are motivated and seem to have taken to it well. They have adapted to it nicely.
This new line-up has arrived from the top Quake clan Demonic Core, how do you think this change to a huge organisation like Team Dignitas will affect them?
I hope it does not affect them too much, we are a very friendly organisation and most of our management are players too, so we know the practice discipline and sacrifices needed to be with the best. These guys are a proven team in Q3 and in the Quake world they were one of the biggest teams. I am pretty sure they will fit in very nicely.
What will be the squad's first tournament or event that they will be participating in?
Tonight they have been involved in the Quake 4 UK 1v1 Cup. And at the end of this week TooGoood and Blunt will attend i26 Multiplay LAN in Newbury with myself and hopefully our BF2 team.
What measures (training wise) will they be taking to become a top team again?
The team will be practicing 4v4 as much as Demonic Core did in Q3, but they hope to LAN bootcamp a lot more. Every member is dueling each other to keep themselves on their toes. But they are also just playing a lot.
Do you have any plans on attending the CPL Winter 2005 event?
Yes for sure we have three places paid for and we will work on actually getting over to Dallas in the next few weeks.
How confident are you that the squad will perform well in their upcoming tournaments?
I am sure they will do very well as I said they are motivated so its down to them to perform, no pressure from me though :) Our goal is to get our players into the big tournaments and events; their job is to do as well as they can. I think that they will be a major force and I cannot wait for tournaments to start.
Well that's about it, I can only wish you and your new team the best of luck! Have you got any closing words?
Thanks, I also wish them the best of luck and I must say thanks to our sponsors ABIT, QPAD and Game-Hosting.
And with that, we wish the new squad the best of luck at their upcoming tournaments and events! They should certainly do well!
