Hello. So, here we are, im going to present World In Conflict Beta, present it in the way I feel about the game of course, so let us begin!
Well many of you know, but i'll explain it again. World In Conflict is a Real Time Strategy game in which the USA is fighting the ex-Soviet Union or the so called USSR in the alternative way of events in the 90's.
That told, let us move to the actual Gameplay of the game. At first you really have to select which side you want to play for, so are you an American tipe of a guy or a tipe of a guy that likes vodka? Well thats your choice; just pick one and move on. Then it's the Infantry's, Amor's, Support's and Air's role to impress you in which one you will choose. When you choose on of them you are officialy ready to get things started. And there it comes, you're first task - choose the spawn point on the so called Megamap, which is a 3D map on which you can actually play, but more about that later. Ok, so you picked the spawn point, now you just have to wait 30 seconds for the match to begin. Now the match is live, you have to choose again; damn this word get's a little anoying over time; which units you will buy, for example - you picked the Armor units to control, ok so you will buy or request one Heavy-Tank and lets say two Medium-Tank's, I think you are out of money after this, not sure. And then the fight begins, you send you're units into the battle, and when they die you request further reinforcements, but if you wish more than just one or two new Medium-Tanks you really had to destroy some enemy units before with you're first wave of attack, now if you didn't you will just have to wait, unlucky. Remember, there is no farming in World In Conflict, just pure old fashion chaotic battle for money.
Lets head to some of the special features a unit can do, lets say the Medium-Helicopter or whatever it is called (Dont get me wrong, I just always forget the names), it has a special anti-Air unit missile which is a very important special attack, because you really have to destroy these pesty Air units. And there are the IR countermeasure flares, which sometimes yes, sometimes no fool the incoming missiles. These special abilities can't be used one hundread at a time, but after you use it, they need some time to recharge.
Ok, unit's special abilities explained, lets move to the Tactical Aid's special-reinforcements-and-nuke-caller. I think that told a lot, or not. For this Tactical Aid you need special points called the TP points or just TP, I'm not sure, and you get these points with destroying enemy units. In the magazine of this Tactical Aid you've got from simple and boring non destroying reinforcements, to things like Carpet Bombing, some other anti-infantry, anti-tank attacks and the most destructive missile - the Tactical Nuke. Yeah you heard me, the NUKE. When you throw that monster missile, that cost 80 points, it's like heaven on Earth. The match really like some reviewer said, stops. Everyone will just watch it and will not stop for until it takes you're eyes out.
So, where was I, oh the Gameplay. I did not explain how you win this one-and-only mode in the Beta version, the so called Domination mode, which is I think known to the Call of Duty people. You win with controlling more of these strategy positions on the map, there are a total of four of those positions, I think. And you win with as said with controlling more of those for a longer time than the enemy and with the so-bye-me called percent-meter (I think its called the Domination meter in the game) till the the end of one side; You may have seen a similar meter in Battlefields 1942. Damn, I hate to explain this meter;Ok, at the start there is a flag on one side and a flag on the other side, just a part of the flag, and with controling more of those strategy points on the map, the one team that controls the more of them has more percent and more of that flag revealed. Other than that, one match takes a total of twenty minutes, and if by that time on team doesn't win yet, then after that time the victorious team is the team that has more percent or that controls more of those damn positions, the end.
WoW, I really hate that domination meter part, I really do. Lets continue. What I'm going to tell now, you will have to remember. World In Conflict is a team-based game, so if you think you can switch from Quake or Unreal Tournament to WiC and think as you're self as a solo player, than do not switch. In this game your succes, in the meaning of winning a match, lies in the hands of your team mates. Remember, every unit has a weakness. So you will need the support of anti-air units, of anti-tank units, of anti-infantry units, of team mates that give you TP points so you can call a Nuke or whatever, so don't forget this.
What now follows is a conclusion of the World In Conflict Beta Gameplay. In my and many other eyes, this game is going to be a revolution of RTS games. This is going to be the next level of RTS gaming, which is not even evolved, other than the single-player crap and some multi-player geeks wanting to be good. This is going to be the best Real Time Strategy Game till now. Even though I really liked games like Battle For the Middle earth 1&2, it is a totaly different story yes, but WiC is going to be CPL! Great huh. For it you need sense of teamplay, good strategies, alot of traning like for all of the multi-player games if you wish to be good some day and a crazy computer. I, that have a two and a half year old computer is capable running the game on low setting, but it runs. Oh, what am I talking, lets finish the gameplay here, it is great it is awesome, I like it.
We are at the next step of my "big" review. The graphics. As I said some lines ago, I play the game on low display setting so I can have those thirty FPS, and that I can actually not go mad at playing. If you have seen some of the pictures or wallpapers (wallpapers are not so reliable), you saw that this game really has the best lets say RTS graphic's of all times. Butm it's safe to say that it also has one of the best graphics of all games, well not for me yet. There are missiles, there is Carpet Bombing, there is the Tactical Nuke, there is smoke! And everything already by my setting, looks amazing. It will look alot better, alteast for those who will use windows Vista, because there the game is going to run on DirectX10, not like on XP, only on DX9. This means, that the smoke unlike now is going to act like real smoke - it will move like smoke, it will be a 3D smoke. This is possible with the usage of the so called "Soft Particles", don't ask me what that is. "It will act like smoke" - It means that when a helicpopter will fly throu it, it will move away from the rotators, damn - things on the helicopters that make's it move. Now to the craters, Im not too sure if in the Dx9 version the craters are like they will be in the Dx10 version. If they are the same than they are real, not just graphic fake. Soldiers can actually take cover in it, and they can expand in unlimited sizes. So drop some nukes on the floor to make some cover for the Infantry. I don't know if this counts under graphics, but the forest can be burnt down, and then the Infantry not gains, but looses cover, too bad for them. One more thing here, everything that stands in World In Conflict is destroyable, so make you're way throu the building.
As before, following the conclusion of graphics, going to be short I promise. After the in-game pictures I saw the game looks amazing, why Im telling after what pictures I saw - simply because my version of the game is just not so good looking, its old. - Going to be fenomenal, when I'll get my new super-machine.
Follows something that makes firms like Sennheiser and Logitech rich - the sound. I really was fascinated with the sound in the game. I't was actually shocking, I still don't know if that was a flash in my head , but when I zoomed the camera closer to the soldiers, they were having a fight, they were actually having an argue. That was so damn cool, you will really have to hear that on your own. And there are sounds of helicopters flying, cars driving, missiles exploding, it is a WoW, a little less of a WoW than by the graphics or the actuall World of Warcraft (damn them), but still boy oh boy, this game has to have something bad. Give the critics a change Massive Entertainment and Sierra. One of the coolest sounds for me is by far the sound of the incoming Nuke, totaly freaking awesome, can't explain it, it just raises your adrenaline. And I also have to mention the narration, Russian-English and USA-English, both there.
Again, you know what follows, conclusion. With the Gameplay and the graphics and the sound, this game really looks perfect, but im not over yet with the review, preview. The sound however also deservers a place in the history of RTS. And the critics are down zero to three again Massive and Sierra, boy they are getting owned out here.
Well, we are at the end of it, i'll explain the last factor this game is revolutionary, the last factor is the camera. It is without a doubt the most flex and dynamical camera of all Real Time Strategy games I have played. You can move it 360 degrees, in all way, zoom im zoom out, you feel like you're in the middle of a real battle just with the camera.
Ah, you made it, its over. The pain-in-the-ass me is going to finish it here, and now. It is officialy a five out of a five rating, for me at least, but im sure for 99 percent others too, leave those critics behind. It will be CPL it will be ESL it will be I don't know where else, it has and it will have Gameplay, it has Graphics, it has Sound and it has fun. There is only one bad thing in it, except that you need a monster-machine to run it on high setting. Maybe there should be more different units, like a hunter instead of a helicopter, but Im not sure, that probaly will be in the original, don't know why it wouldn't be. I really forgot to say this - there also will be a NATO side, don't know how it will look like, but let us wait and see. So this is it, for those RTS fans and others this is a new era in my opinion, this game is going TV. Nothing more to say, I'm over and out.
