Paris, here we come!
In these days I am busy working on visas, our flight to Paris will be on 27th June, therefore we will arrive in Paris 28th June. wNv-Gaming will have 7 people aboard, me, andy and 5 players of wNv.gm.
Before flying to Paris, wNv.gm still have one more event to play, i.e. IEF (international e-sports festival),which will be started on 10th June.
Our French and Swedish workmates will receive us at airport on 28th June, it will be the first time we meet each other since wNv Oversea Department established. During the event, they will record wNv's activities, which will be very important materials for upcoming wNv movie.
ESWC Paris will be a tough tournament, we must take seriously to every match. Since we got the spot in Paris, I have received a lot of messages from our fans, many of them are Chinese students in Europe, some of them even have already booked flight to Paris to support us. I really appreciate their support, we can not let them down, therefore we must do their best! Paris, here we come!
A busy day
It’s 7 o'clock in the morning, I woke up much earlier today than I do usually. The Counter-Strike grand finals of WEG Masters will be on today. Therefore it will be a very busy day for me. The first thing I did was to ring andy who is the business director of wNv to arrange wNv t-shirts for our oversea crew. 6 t-shirts have been ready for a long time; however it has been delayed due to the busy schedule of WEG Masters and IEF (International E-Sports Festival) tournament. Andy and I do not spend much time in Hangzhou as we have to be with wNv.cn in the IEF event in Beijing. On the telephone, I asked andy: “are you nervous?” he responded: “yes!” and then both of us burst into laugh.
The second thing I worked on was to collect the videos of wNv.gm’s actions during the WEG Masters as well as their demos in other tournaments for our moviemakers. Those videos and demos will be sent with t-shirts to our moviemakers in Sweden and France. Therefore I must make them ready as soon as the WEG Masters come to an end.
The last thing I must do before going to watch the finals is to prepare my report for the senior management meeting after few days. As the leader of the oversea department, my report will cover many key issues concerning the oversea development of wNv-Gaming such as build of English website, bootcamp in Europe, the management of servers in Europe, the feasibility of building other squads and so forth.
Now I am taking a ten-minute break!
Good Luck to all teams!
wNv vs 3D, I was there!
11/March/2006 that was probably a normal day for most people around the world, however it was a really special day for fans of wNv-Gaming and team 3D. On this day, wNv.gm offered a warm reception to Amercian powerhouse team3D at 520 internet cafe in Beijing. As a member of wNv-Gaming, I was there to be part of the home team. When I arrived at the 520 internet cafe at 9:15 a.m. The press conference for the team 3D had already started in a big room around the corner. I once attempted to join the conference, but was stopped by the security. It was my first time to see 3D guys in such close distance. There were 3 things that most impressed me: 3D|so is much taller that I thought before; 3D|moto came as a player; 3D|Torbull is a really nice guy who always satisfied the needs of those journalists.
Today wNv players wore their news team suits designed by Kappa in which every one looked like a race driver. Before the friendly match began, 44'alex, sakula, tK, jungle and mikk played some KZ maps and aim maps while the team 3D's press conference was still going on. It was a long waiting before the match formally started, when 3D came out from the conference room, you could hear nothing but screaming and applause. Many people held cameras to catch every movement of their stars.

Save you $100!
it is a well-known fact that the windows xp pro edition is better for playing games, such as CS, etc. However not every player owns a windowns xp pro edition, instead, they play under windows xp home edition. Now taking 6 steps, you can turn your home edition into pro edition by using no extra tools.
-=1=-
copy all of files on your Windows XP Home install CD to your harddisk. If your harddisk is not big enough to upload all of files, you may only copy the files of CD folder and the contents of I386 directory.
-=2=-
Running "Regedt32", and open Regedit. Pitch on[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE], now go to menu bar, and click on "File". Now what you need to do is to go to "Load Hive..." and find "Setupreg.hiv" (under I386 directory which can be found in the Windows XP Home CD you just copied)
-=3=-
Now the system will require you to settle a name, you can pick up whatever you like. Then you need to go to [HKEY_LCOAL_MACHINE\name(one you just chose)\ControlSet001\Services\setupdd], and double click "Default" which can be found on the right window, and change "01" to "00", change "02" to "00"
-=4=-
Pitching on [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/name you chose] ----> File -----> Export, save it as Registry Hive File, the name should be "setupreg.hiv". But you must not save it into the I386 folder, put it into else folders.
-=5=-
Now you must go to the "file menu" of REGEDIT again. But this time you need to pitch on "Unload Hive..". You will be asked to confirm whether you'd like to continue the operation. Click on "Yes" and quit REGEDIT. Copying the new setupreg.hiv to the I386 directory and overwrite the old one.
-=6=-
Now you can burn a CD and install the windows pro from it, OR you can install it directly from your harddisk. I chose the latter. Restart your computer, and start the system by using DOS startup disk. Going to I386 directory, and execute "winnt" command. Now Windows will start installing. After it, activate it by using the CD-KEY for your Home Edition.
NOTE:
SP2 can not be installed in this edition of Windows Pro
A solution for some FPS problems
This is an article from Bossi, this is also available http://www.complexityclan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9293]here.[/url]
Here the article is:
It appears that the Instructions below fixed 90% of all FPS Problem for many user, so hopefully your one of these 90%!
This guide is meant for those who have *serious* FPS Problems in Counter-Strike 1.6 (40-50 FPS or even worse). It is NOT supposed to push everybody FPS from 100 to 300 or whatever! ... If you have already 80-90 FPS then this Guide is rather useless for you (though it *can* help you anyway to get 100 fps)
Just to give you a short example:
I personally play CS with constant 100 FPS (except in a smoke) at 1024x768 Resolution on Server with up to 32 People. My Hardware is something most of you will laugh about, because i use "only" AMD 2800+, 768 MB of RAM and a GeForce 4 Ti4600 (actually a 4800SE overclocked). Plus i have 4x Antialiasing and 4x Anisotropic Filtering active with Quality-Settings!
Why i tell you this? Simply that you see, that your FPS Problems are NOT related to your Hardware (except physically damaged Hardware of course) ... also look here
Note: This Guide is for ATI and nVidia user. It will probably not work with Integrated Graphics such as Intel Extreme Graphics (845G). Furthermore do i think, that you can do little to push your FPS with the Intel Extreme Chip, because it is simply too bad. Look here to know what i mean.
Okay, here we go: (i presuppose basic computer knowledge for this little guide)
Step 1
Update your Graphics Driver to the latest available.
ATI User go here: www.ati.com
nVIDIA User go here: nVIDIA.com
Note: Do not just install the new over the old Driver! Go to your Computer Control Panel and uninstall the old Driver first, reboot your Computer and install the new Driver - reboot again when the Driver ask to!
I personally prefer modified Drivers and use the "XG 77.62 type 2" available at tweaksrus.com, because they give me an excellent IQ (image quality) and best Performance - BUT these are Beta Drivers and can cause Problems! If you want to go the save way, stick to the official Drivers from nvidia or ati!!
Step 2
Go to your "C:\windows\system32\" folder and search for the file
"atioglxx.dll" if you are ATI User
"nvoglnt.dll" if you are nVidia User
"opengl32.dll" is the Default OpenGL Driver if you don't use ATI or nVidia
rightclick the File and click "copy".
Step 3
Go to the folder "gldrv" in your Counter-Strike folder. Usually located at "Steam\SteamApps\YourAccountName\counter-strike\gldrv".
Inside this folder are 2 files. Rename the "3dfxgl.dll" to whatever you want. Now press CTRL + V or do a rightclick and "paste". Now you should see the file we just copied from the "system32" folder.
Note: If the file is not there right now, slap yourself at the forehead and return to Step 2! ^^
Step 4
Open the file "drvmap.txt" with a Editor (Notepad or whatever), but do not use MS-Word!
Delete everything inside this file! Now write the new Line:
"gldrv/nvoglnt.dll OpenGL Driver" (without the " ") if you are nVidia User
"gldrv/atioglxx.dll OpenGL Driver" (without the " ") if you are ATI User
"gldrv/opengl32.dll OpenGL Driver" (without the " ") if you use Default OpenGL
Save and close this file.
Step 5
Restart Steam, Start Counter-Strike and go straight to "Options". Go to the Video Tab and choose OpenGL (left top "Renderer"), click apply and ok.
That's it!
Counter-Strike should now run in OpenGL Mode and is supposed to give you 100 FPS.
Note: Make sure to set your FPS to 100 in CS. Open the Console and type "fps_max 101".
[edit]
Also go to your Graphics Driver Panel and set VSync OFF - Screenshot
Important
If you updated your Graphics Driver and experience a Problem with watching Movies/Videos (too bright screen) click [url=http://www.complexityclan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=163190#163190 for the Solution.
Note:
Instructions like the one above can be found on internet many times, so i did not invent the wheel again - therefore props out to whoever discovered this first. (afaik was it someone from the official OpenGL developer)
Feedback would be nice, if it worked for you or even not.
Also, if someone is in the mood to convert this guide into something that actually is closer to english than my jabber, feel free to do so and send me the corrected version.. i'll gladly update the guide then
Good Luck and hopefully this Guide helps you to fix your FPS Problems
dirty?
I do not like to speak dirty words, no matter in Chinese or in English, but unfortunately sometimes I am forced to do so. Playing publics or SK-Insider Servers, it really does not matter; you have to prepare to deal with some really unpleasant situations such as name-calling and even racism. CS is a game (also called E-Sport), tennis is a game, and snooker is also a game, etc. When people play tennis or snooker, they are always well-behaved, no matter winning or losing. However why a great number of players treat CS servers as a playground teasing including name-calling or speaking dirty language? The biggest reason for this could be that CS is played online. Most of people know each other by nicknames. Therefore the badly-behaved players do not need to worry about that their notorious gaming-history will affect their real life. Please forgive me for what I am going to say next, some people may be two-faced liars. They change what they say or behave according to who they are talking to. Before their parents, they are well-behaved kids with good family education; in front of computer they act like an ungracious loser or racist.
CS is not something dirty! People come to play it for fun, not for learning dirty words or being shouted insults. Therefore people should learn to respect each other, by that every game will not only a “Good Game”, but also a truly “Great Game”.
Once I played in a public server, a guy swore at me because I “killed” him with a bit of luck. I told him to watch his language, and he replied that “lol how can I? The language is invisible?” So I responded “yes the language is invisible, but the language u speak reflect ur personality, and u r visible.” Hopefully everyone knows this.
Get Rid of Addiction
It is not good thing if you play a game without being able to stop. I know some guys around me who almost spend 15 hours a day on playing games such as Counter-Strike.For them they can not imagine a life without games. I admit that games are important: you got time to chill out for a while by playing a game, and temporarily forget the hustle and bustle of your life. Also playing games may make you a well-rounded person, e.g. my knowledge about using computer has been much improved since I played CS. However also I have to say that if you found yourself having been addicted to a game. It is very important for you to get some ideas to rescue yourself from such situation. Otherwise you would suffer a big loss. Some guys who addicted to a game really admire gaming stars for taking the centre of stage to show off their skills and personality. Therefore they want to be a star; they want to become a focus of gaming presses. However the truth is that not every people own a talent for gaming; not every people will have a chance to show off. Hence you must have a talent and an opportunity simultaneously. Here some guys may moan that they got both, that may be true. But there are nearly hundred teams and thousands of people in CPL every year, how many big names can you remember? The answer is “not many”. Some guys may argue that I got nothing better to do than sit there playing games. Frankly I do not believe that this is a good reason for becoming addiction to games. If you like, I am sure that you will find yourself a lot of other things to do, e.g. we need many and various knowledge from textbooks; we need different experiences from works. I know and understand that for those guys it will be a huge decision to say "ciao" to a hustle gaming life. Some guys may only give my blog a fleeting glimpse and say that what I am doing is just wasting a piece of paper and talk a load of old bollocks, because that you play games just for fun. So I will congratulate you, and thank you for giving my work a quick read. :D
I will make a wheelie
Recently I fall in love with motorcycling. I quit driving car, and hate riding shotguns (actually I have given my audi to Jing).
Where I am working now is a small town in Sichuan province. It is raining a lot, but I don't care. There is no feeling quite like this ever since. Usually It takes 2 hours riding from town to the nearest city, I have to ride through 3 mountains. Sweeping into bends without missing a beat, banking the thing knowing its planted, no matter the road conditions.
I am going to have a race in 3 days, and most excited thing is that i will be the man who will pull the wheelie leading the others off down the road.
