.....Addiction !
Gamers allways knew they were special. They could things nobody else could do. They would patienly invent strategies that toke hours to unfold (like mappers), and figured out puzzles that would have surprised Sherlock Holmes!
Now Studies have proven It, Gamers do better in life!
Children who acctualy become addicted in computer games may be more intelligent and motivated than others, go on to university and get better jobs, according to the latest studies.
While most people keep insisting on the violence that vidio games promote, the studies show that children actually work through aggresion when they play video games.
Many of them involve strategic thinking, puzzles and cooperative game play whit other around the globe.
While in the "old days" gaming oftenmeant being isolated, the new generation of games involve interaction.
Most Gamers prefer to play games at least whit one other person. Computer addiction may lead to sacrafices in lots of areas of their lives, friends, homework and other activities but they wont necessarily have fewer social skills
There is no magical ingridient that tells the brain that it mustn't stop playing. People play games beacouse they enjoy them more than others. A Person who loves books may be blinkered to everything else that goes on around them and the same goes to people who watch too many films or too much TV. Game Playing, wich is just another daily activity, gives a lots of people true pleasure. They should not be judged separately from any other leisure activity that brings us satisfaction.
If Someone is interested in Motorbikes, rides them every spare hour he has and gets off his bike whit a big smile, is he addicted to his bike ?!?!?!?!

One day I started playing Counterstrike, it was Beta2 between 1999 and 2000. To that time we were maybe 80 Clans in the Clanbase Germany and everyone new everyone. The ESL wasn't even born, it was called DECL and was not nearly as interesting as the clanbase. Practice Clanwars were totally out, noone actually bothered to practice for a coming up proper clanwar.
The atmosphere between the players in those times were just marvelous. No flames, no swear words and no teasing. At one point of the counterstrike development always more and more people started to buy and play the bloody game. God knows why everyone chose especially this game. The boom started around cs 1.0 I would say. This is were I come to the point. I feel like that I belong to the "basis" of the counterstrike scene in Germany. With the other clans we built up a kind of community that lived in a total harmony. From time to time though the game became quite easy to learn and people only playing the game 3 months were so talented that they played as well as we did. The new players sort of took over the scene and always more oldschool players went inactive. In the German EPS this isn't much different. Out of 16 clans there are maybe 100 professional counterstrike players, and only maximum 5 out of the old times. We still hold together...We don't deserve any kind of respect, somehow sad.
