Be aware for child made games!

By Rodrigo 'roc4m' Albuquerque

When I was young, I wasn´t used to analyze life´s situations. Just after a certain age I started to have insights and became a very criticizing person.
I´m writing this commentary because the subject of this text is something that to innocent children may sound like garbage, but to some aged people is something really dangerous. I pretend to write about child made games.
Many games do not have any childish aspect in it. The term "child" is only a tool to hit the great child market, since child are easy influenciable minds and the most important pawns in future.
Yes, the rulers of tomorrow are the childs of today and to make sure that they will follow the line, it´s necessary to force them somehow, and what´s the best way of doing it?
Child made games of course. Innocent games that are capable of spreading the most wicked idealism. Let´s go for the examples:
Monopoly. Who ever stopped to think about monopoly? Monopoly represents the utmost wild capitalism, where the goals are to get the highest number of properties, become milionary and estabilish a monopoly, charging high taxes until your opponent calls bankruptcy. In this game we don´t have to worry about the families, the miserable that don´t have anything, the unemployed people and the hungry ones. The only goal of the game is to become rich. A great lesson to be taught to children.
War. War is the purest imperialism. The goal of the game is to take over countries, destroying armies until there´s no man left in the battlefield. To dizimate entire populations, dominate the world. This is the lesson taught by War, and maybe George W. Bush played this one a lot.
Combat. Combat is another military game. The goal of this one is to destroy the enemy army. This game teachs the military hierarchy, and the army exists for combat, to destroy other armies and to kill people. Here is estimulated the inhuman idea on children of how being a militar jerk.
The Life´s game (a game here in Brazil that I don´t know if exists at other countries) is a way of socializating children. The main idea is that you have to build a family, have a job, a house. On this game, are created standard ways of life that are accept by society. There´s no space for hippies, homossexuals (there are only pink pawns for women and blue pawns for men) or revolutionaries. It´s a way of taming children and in a certain way, creating prejudice on them.
But the worst of them, it´s the Jump Pirate (again I don´t know if it exists out of here). Here you can see the clear repression and punishment in this game. On him, the pirate (criminal) is trapped inside of a barrel, and the goal is to punish him by crossing swords on the barrel. Children laugh of the other´s disgrace (the pirate in the case) and they develop a sadic and wicked side.
This way we can see how we got manipulated, how our nations depend of our past plays. And here is a warning to future parents: Be aware for child made games! We don´t want a new Bush

Final Fantasy Tactics

This is a blog dedicated to one of the most incredible games made until today in my opinion.
Final Fantasy Tactis is an unusual Role Play Game, as it´s leaves behind the quest concept and focus on the battles, like Tactics Ogre. The battling system is awesome, brave and faith status gives the game a singular touch, besides the sign stuff and a lot of variants that make this game be so exciting.
The long job list, and all the possibilities of mixing styles, makes this a game full of surprises, and every battle turns on a single battle. Paralel quests that makes the replay inevitable. Tons of fun guaranteed.
Not to mention the music, that is the most beautiful I have ever heard until today along with the history of the game, all the plots, and the epic quest about a boy who wanted to go against the politics tide to make a fair world for everyone.
This blog is dedicated to this game, indeed. Anyone feel welcome to share your opinion about it, ask questions, tips and everything else you need...
cheers
