Hellooooo....I need help.
I got a computer , and its a beast the only problem is that i can't use it...
The computer is this intel quad core thing, and it's supposed to be overclocked and its just a bad ass computer....
as you can probably tell i'm not the brightest with computers
my brother built this computer for me and installed windows 7 on it and gave it to me ... we all figured it was going to be no problems ...he recently went out of town and will not be back for a while so i have nobody to fix the problem i'm having ...
the computer is SUPER fast, it restarts in literally 1 second, so i know its probably amazing ...WOW runs perfectly but when i open cs , it runs perfect for a while and then it freezes for like 1 second , and it happens every 10-15 seconds ....
its not "lag" because i dont get flush entity packs or w/e and my ping is fine....i have 100 fps - i thought it might be video card drivers but i have installed, re installed 10 or more different vid drivers and i even took this one out and put a ATI in to see if that fixes it but i still have the "lag"
Then, i figured it was windows 7 ...so i reformatted with XP and crossed my fingers
BUT AGAIN.....it "lags" or freezes....
so now i'm pooped and frustrated
i have no idea what to do ... i'm all out of options and i'm about to throw this shit out the window
someobyd help me please!

if i turn vsync off i have 100 fps but it freezes
fuck !
I can´t promise it will work but it could. Just try it.
i don't remember exactly how i got rid of it but if i remember correctly i had connected the wrong power cords to the card or something. or that the card wasn't inserted fully into the slot.
as i said i can't remember exactly how i got it fixed but you could try the things i said if your not 100% sure it's inserted properly.
You could also pick apart the whole computer and rebuild it from scratch but i guess you'd have to ask someone to do it for you then :P.
gl !
just try default settings in bios and see if it dissapears. cause then that should be a clear indication that the settings were not configured right from the getgo.
do this BEFORE you mix with the cords.
i mean, i remember my brother saying that he overclocked it ....would that do something to it?
but also, WoW runs perfectly fine, and the computer runs great ...its ONLY IN CS 1.6 !
and again, last night i turned vsync ON and i opened CS, and the LAG or FREEZE , it dissapeared!
what does this mean!?!?!?
maybe turning vsync on makes the comuter/graphics run on lower speed or something and therefore it doesn't lag.
i mean 60hz is pretty low so it would make sense if the freezelag doesn't show up with vsync on. Turning vsync off unlocks all the power and fps so if the system is too overclocked there's a bigger chance it will cause trouble with vsync off.
if you know how to enter bios then you should choose default settings and change + reboot. i think that might solve it. hopefully :)
it's not harmful to the system doing this. it just resets everything to the way it was before your brother overclocked it.
My friend had exactly the same problem, this was the solution.
what is developer? is that a cs command or is that a pc command or what?
please write in detial what i should try
Have you tryed it without ventrilo running @ the backround? (maybe a stupid question but Ventrilo can cause that problem)
it HAS TO BE video card/ hard drive / processor / motherboard . ONE OF THOSE lol
lately its been freezing and i have trouble opening cs. does this mean my computer is about to die? :(
I got this shit for chelsea's bday and spent like a shit load of money on it and it is
A POS AHHHHHHHHHH i can't even believe its still not working ...FML
funny? :P
Quadcore's don't run very well with cs1.6 :(
I will try to find a solution, hang on.
You should also check if your Power Supply is strong enough for the PC in question. For what you are describing you should at least have a 350-400W PS.
You could also try something to be sure you have the same problem as my friend: turn vertical sync ON. if the freeze stops you have the same problem(*).
What i can tell you with some certainty, is, that the problem isn't caused by the Quad Core, i have a Quad Core and my CS 1.6 runs perfectly;
- nor the Video Card, my friend changed his Video Card and the problem persisted(*).
Can you tell me the CPU Usage (%) hl.exe has while you are playing ? it should not be above 5%, max 10% if there are lots of smoke grens. or theres a map with lots of details. If the CPU Usage is above 15% you should try installing the game on a different HDD(if you have more than 1) just to test if, in fact, the HDD is causing all of this.
NOTE: (*) points to the (*1) paragraph.
blah !
So you think it's the Ram??? I heard about that....Should i buy new ram?
instead of buying a new one, first ask a friend to lend you his/her RAM; if it works fine with his/her RAM, well then, you know where the problem is 100%.
IF you use wireless, and ur getting the lag every 10-15 sec.
DOuble check this by going - Start and type CMD and open the program
Type in CMD.exe -- ping google.com -t
it will ping it for a while, just sit and watch, if it jumps every so often, this is your problem, and all you have to do
is go Start, type services.msc and open
go over to services and stop wireless zero config.
Its constantly searching for available wireless networks and will lag every 10-15seconds odd.
You can disable it, but when you load your pc windows wont connect to your wireless unless its active.
Its a pain, i have it too, hope this helps
