By Sebastian 'gosey' Selin
Mar 19, 2008 16:34

Corpsegrinder from the death metal band Cannibal Corpse being interviewed about various stuff and it turns out that he likes WoW - a lot!

The interview was made in August 2007 but is definitley worth a look for those who haven't already seen it. I suggest that you listen to the whole interview but the WoW-part starts around 4min 20sec.

Lta from Knockout was kind enough to share this clip, a quite funny bug that happened to him in a 3vs3 game on Blade's Edge Arena.

SK beats TSG - What a relief

By Sebastian 'gosey' Selin
Feb 29, 2008 13:38

I'm sure many of you have been following the Bloodlust 5vs5 tournament, and some of the drama that the game between SK and TSG (teh super gosus) brought.

Sites like Gameriot and Gotfrag were not slow to pick up the drama that "SK" had caused. So I figured I might say a few words about my view on all that has happened.

I think trance made a very wise desicision with adding the new rules about disconnects. I mean, I do understand how it sucks when someone really disconnects (which was what happened in SK's case), but since it's online there's really nothing you can do about it. If you disconenct you just have to deal with it, it doesn't happen that often so it shouldn't be a very big problem, it shoulnd't even happen more than maybe a few times per tournament. So this rule is definitley good for the tournament although it's definitley not going to be fair sometimes - which everyone just has to accept.

Since there wasn't any set rules about this, and from what I understood this happend in the fnatic vs CLC match also, and CLC got that match replayed. I mean, when someone really does disconnect, it's pretty obvious that the match should be replayed. TSG claimed that it woulnd't have affected the outcome of the match, while SK did. TSG's word against SK's and a lot of ugly words were said, something that many people seem to have reacted to.
You have to know that these players are extreme winners, you don't end up in the top of bg9 if you don't have an eager to win, and in the heat of battle people say lots of things that they maybe shouldn't had. Being an ex football athlete myself, I do understand how this works, although I don't agree with it and it's definitley something that many people, especially wow players that maybe some day will end up as pro gamers have to think about.

I had a chat with Neilyo about this and the advice that I gave him, and I think a lot of other people (especially good players) is that they should let their performances speak for themselves. When you are a successful player, people will always trashtalk you, simply because everyone won't like you and definitley not agree with you. There's no point in being defensive about it (or agressive for that matter), you just have to let it go and just face the fact that some people will dislike or even hate you.

Anyway, I have to say that I'm very relieved that we managed to come back and win three straight games. Actually it was four wins since they won a rated match (+22 points!) also. Incredible job by them I must say, since they didn't have any experience whatsoever against that comp, since it's very unusual.

TSG still remains in the tournament and I really hope that we get to play them in the grand finals again.

Wonderbase 2007 Day 3 Live Blog

00:51 CET (Day 4?)
Just arrived back home and uploaded the last 20 pics, http://www.sk-gaming.com/gallery/354/]Check it out[/url].
17:35 CET
Game over :( Lost the final against fnatic, again.. Started out on dust2 which we won 16-7. It was our mappick so we knew that we were good at it. Unfortunately we they knew their map, train even better, 4-16 or something like that. Inferno is a great map for us too, and we played decent but as ALWAYS we lost an eco which totally blew away our focus. That's the main thing we have to focus on right now, and try to get the other maps than dust2 stable. RobbaN is really getting good at being ingame leader now, and you can see it very clear in how the team plays. With a few more weeks of practice I'm sure we will be able to take fnatic down! Still a good tournament for us, we have prooved that we are now back as a consistant top team. See you on the next event hopefully!
Now we'll head home directly after the prize ceremony, a 5 hour car ride back to Stockholm. Will upload todays pictures then, so stay tuned.
15:40 CET
The match will start within 5 minutes, we just had our tactical talk on dust2, which will be the first map. Secon map is train and if a 3rd map is needed it will be inferno. Wish us luck!
14:35 CET
Added around 20 more pictures from yesterday to the gallery, which I renamed to "Day 1 & 2" now. [url=http://www.sk-gaming.com/gallery/354/.
14:20 CET
Just had to upload this short clip of BUDAK singing ;) Unfortunately I only got a few seconds but its better than nothing!
[geemag:820]
14:10 CET
First update today, just arrived at the venue, been sleeping long and had a nice breakfast/lunch at a nice cafe close to the hotel. The CS final against fnatic has been rescheduled to 15:00 CET, although I guess it will be delayed as usual... :)
Going to upload the last pics from yesterday now, then I'll get back to you!

23:20 CET
Win again! Just finished the match against ideal, a very strong Danish team 2-0. We won dust2 first on overtime, we played really good sometimes but just gave away too many rounds for free. On their map (nuke) we played extremely well and managed to pick up 14 rounds a T (!), then lost the pistol but got the remaining 2 after 2 ecos.
Tomorror we're facing fnatic in the grand final, around 16:00 CET.
Now we're just going back to the hotel to relaxe, feel good about todays matches and take it easy! CYA.
20:22 CET
Win! Beat da4ce with 16-10 (7-8 T, 9-2 CT) on de_nuke. T side was ok, 7 rounds as T is decent but we should have won more. But we won and thats what matters! Now we will play the winner of IDEAL (Danish team) and hippopotamus in a bo3 maps semi-final.
19:53 CET
The match got a bit delayed so fisker went to do some warmup!
[GEEMAG:816]
19:28 CET
Our first playoff match will start any minute now, against da4ce on nuke. It's single elimination so we really need to win this one!
The players have been chilling in town/at the hotel since the last match, just been taking it easy. So now we are fit for fight and ready to win.
17:25 CET
The playoffs will start asap, and they told us that our first playoff match will start in like 1 hour. Since 10 teams progress from the group stage, they have to make it a 16 team bracket, which means that 4 of the teams won't have to play the first teams (4 of the group winners).
16:57 CET
Group winners! Won the last match against Inzania with 26-4 (11-4, 15-0, they dropped after last round). Feels great to have passed the group stage so easy even though we had really crappy computers. Still not sure about the playoffs, but I guess we'll play atleast 1 game today.
16:07 CET
Just won the second group stage match against Playstar, which I think was the second best team in our group. 21-9 was the final score, 12-3 as T and then 9-6 as CT on train. Hard to focus 100% when you already won the match (16-4 or something like that) but still a nice match! The next and last match of the group against Inzania will start in 5-10 mins.
We will probably play 1-2 playoff matches today aswell, nothing is 100% sure yet since the whole tournament is so heavily delayed already.
15:20 CET
SK vs Playstar will start any minute now, all players are on the server/connecting as we speak!
14:32 CET
EYE just announced their new CS 1.6 team on the stage here on Wonderbase, and as everyone expected it was Divine (ex Begrip). Read the latest scene news for more info plus pictures and a short video of the stage introduction!
We will start our next game asap, but again they are having troubles with the network so we are just waiting for that to get solved... Things are already over 2 hours delayed, but I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more.
12:55 CET
First update today, came kind of late but I've been having some troubles getting internet to work on the computer. Fortunately a network tech guy came to help me and when he finally fixed internet on my computer - everyone else got kicked out :) So right now I'm the only one with internet working... ;) Strange things!
Anyway, we woke up at 9:00 today and gathered in the hotel lobby to eat some breakfast. After that we went back to our rooms to get ready for the tournament, our first match were supposed to start at 11:00 but it didn't start untill like 12:30. The computers that we got to borrow are very bad, 2.5gz, 512mb ram.. not the best conditions, but it should be ok to make it trough the group stage (playoffs are on other computers).
The mood in the team is great, and we could easy win the first match in the group stage, 23-7 against Battle. Next match should start asap against Playstar on train. They are probably the second best team in our group and should not be underestimated. Train is not our best map either, but I think we should be fine.
First bunch of pictures should be up now, so enjoy!

Wonderbase 2007 Day 1

By Sebastian 'gosey' Selin
Aug 31, 2007 19:11

Hey everyone,
Our day today started at 11:00 as we gathered at Inferno-Online to go by minivan together to Wonderbase which is located in BorĂ¥s, a 5 hour drive from Stockholm.
The trip went just fine and we had a great time in the bus, I mean, how can't you when you got fisker and striker in the same car ;)
We arrived to Wonderbase around 18:00 and checked out the venue which was really nice! Only problem was that the tournament doesn't seem to be on time as they didn't manage to fix internet on the whole day and still didn't install anything on the tournament computers. However we managed to schedule our matches to tomorrow, so we are now at the hotel to just chill out for the whole evening. The first group stage match will start at 11:00 CET tomorrow, not sure yet who we will play.
Will upload a few pictures from our trip, the venue and the rest of our night before it's bedtime. Cu all later!

WCG Qualifier Group Stage Recap

By Sebastian 'gosey' Selin
Aug 18, 2007 03:42

Hello everyone,
Since there wasn't any HLTV available on the group stage of the Swedish WCG Qualifier, I thought I'd write a little bit about my view on SK's matches today.
Game 1 vs underbar (de_dust2)
The team was really pumped up before the match as we lost to them in one of the online qualifiers. We lost the cointoss so we had to start as CT, won the pistol, and then just kept on rolling them. Dust2 is one of our best maps at the moment and we really showed them how it's done on LAN! ;) 13-2 after first half, then we took 3 straight rounds as T to win the game. So 16-2 though we had to finish all rounds because of the group stage and the final result was 20-10. RobbaN is now the ingame leader again and did his job very well, taking a lot of important AWP kills.
Game 2 vs fnatic (de_inferno)
We knew this game was going to be really hard, as we've been having a hard time getting the team ready to practice since GameGune, we only had a short 3 day bootcamp before this event. Inferno is probably our worst map at the moment aswell, so we knew that it would be very hard. We lost the first pistol round and then fnatic came up to a score that's pretty much the worst start you can get in CS - a 2-7 disadvantage and we were forced to a double save round if I'm not misstaken. One of those losses was a deagle ECO by fnatic which have happened in pretty much every match against them now. Extremely bad by us and it got even worse as we almost managed to win a save round against them after, but then lost a 1vs3 against dsn. 10-5 to fnatic after first half (SK CT).
Second half we started out by winning the pistol round, and then played very well, in the end it came down to the last 2 rounds. With a 14-14 score fisker was 1vs2 with the bomb planted, got the first guy but unfortunately died to the second. The last round was just bad by us as we tried a fast rush but got owned by dsn in the middle. Still a pretty good match by us considering all the misstakes we did, so we're looking forward to facing them in the final again! Big props to striker who played amazing the entire game and took a lot of important kills and close rounds.
Game 3 vs CAI (de_nuke)
This was the match that we looked forward most too, as we lost to these guys several times during the online qualifier, but managed to pass to the final qualifier in the end because of a flash bug by them. We knew that we could beat these guys on LAN, although I think we got a bit too overconfident on the LAN conditions as we lost A LOT of stupid rounds. We won the cointoss and started out as CT, which a big advantage on a map like nuke. Again... we lost a deagle ECO and the halftime score was 10-5 in our favour. A decent result but not good considering what kind of rounds we lost. As T we lost the pistol and things didn't look very good, I have to say that we played pretty bad but still impressive that we managed to win the match, 16-11.
I have to admit that it's quite fun to see the difference on some teams and players performances in online compared to offline events.
Overall I am very happy with the players individual performances today, although we have to work some more on the communication.
Tomorrow we're facing NiP in the semi-final in a best of 3 matchup, which is very good for us I think. We haven't lost to them so far this year and we don't have any plans on doing that either!

# 00:00 CET
Just watched some of the last matches, Begrip beat MYM on overtime. Great match, though I really have to head back to the hotel now to catch some sleep for tomorrow morning. The fnatic vs emuLate match seem to have been postponed to 12:00 CET. See you then!
# 22:35 CET
cogu just stopped by and told me that the matches might be changed, as they apparently have made the brackets totally wrong. Since PGS(Seed #1) are facing mibr(Seed#3) in the WB Semi. Not sure what's going to happen but I'll keep you guys updated when I know more.
# 22:15 CET
Hmm we lost! The guys headed back home and I'm going to stick here for a while. Check out the coverage for the latest results.
# 20:47 CET
The match are just about to start now, SpawN and allen had to change computers because theirs were just totally messed up. Can't believe how much admins let the players change. Too many players are using very strange configurations and stuff. Always wrong with the sound and mouse.
Anyway, the match should start in 5-10 min tops.
# 19:50 CET
We just got our seats for the game vs ZYKON, so the players are setting up their stuff right now. My guess is that the game will begin in like 20-30 minutes (~20:15).
RobbaN wrote a blog a few minutes ago aswell, so be sure to check that out! Cu guys after the game, will upload some more pictures and demos then.
# 18:30 CET
Nice match, won against Mushkin (former atLanteam) in the LB round 1 on dust2. Could have won bigger but 16-6 is not that bad. Now we are going to play ZYKON on inferno, and if we win that we will face redCode (defusekids) on nuke. So we feel really good about the upcoming matches and should hopefully be able to reach the LB Semi-Finals without too much hazzle. But you never know with CS these days!
Check out POV demos of SpawN and allen from the Mushkin match.
# 17:20 CET
Just uploaded some pics from the second day, so check it out. Now I'm off to the tournament area to check out SK vs Mushkin that should start any minute. More pictures coming later!
# 17:00 CET
An admin just contacted me and told me to bring the team to the tournament area, so the match should start around 17:30 CET, just as I expected.
We just had some food and the players are ready to bring this tournament home from the loser bracket! :) Lots of matches inc!
# 15:40 CET
Just lost to 69N-28E. Pretty bad considering we were up 11-4 after first half. Don't know what to say really, just sad :(. Now we're playing Mushkin in the Lower Bracket, not sure when it's going to start but I'm guessing within an hour.
# 14:25 CET
Since the redCode/Convention match was more delayed than the others, 69N-28E couldn't set up their stuff untill now. So the SK guys have been warming up for a while now, and the match should start in like 20 minutes (~14:40/50).
# 13:45 CET
Sitting in the press area waiting for SK who will play 69N-28E in like 20 minutes. Everything seems to be around 1 hour and 30 minutes delayed. Will start updating this blog every time that I can during the day, so keep put!
Make sure to check out the video interviews that Alex did with allen and fisker, and also the POV demo of cogu from mibr vs Begrip, crazy CT half.
The day1 gallery has been updated with the last bunch of pictures from yesterday aswell, and expect a gallery from the second day soon after SK has finished their game.

GameGune - Day 1 Updates

By Sebastian 'gosey' Selin
Jul 20, 2007 18:46

Hi everyone,
Sitting in the press area at GameGune in Bilbao, Spain right now with TheSlaSH to my right. He's currently uploading a video interview with striker and I'm gonna give you some details on what's going on over here!
The entire group stage is around 1-2 hours delayed, so the players just started setting up their stuff for their first match which is against Convention on inferno.
It will be an interesting match especially since we have been told that they used Fragbite's computers to check demos of us to inferno :) So they know how we play, and we know that they know... so it will be interesting! Hopefully we will manage to pull something off.
As you probably have seen, Alex (Theslash) are doing some really nice videos from here, so keep your eyes on the front page for the latest updates and interviews!
Funny thing is that the WC3 tournament is played on laptops, and Insomnia are still waiting for his first match to be played, as he is waiting for his opponent to finish his match.
Ironiclly that match has been delayed since one of the players in that match ran out of batteries on his laptop :)
So yeah, now I'm off to check on the CS team as they are going to start soon against Convention. POV demos are to be expected!
Cya later.
