I'm currently learning C++. My project is to make a lil deathmatch mod. So what do I have to code ? Few weapons, few items (well, in this case, it's just changing variables of the pre-existing items), and to add fov, fullbright, drawviewmodel and restart commands (not that much in fact). Until now, I have found the C++ environment much more pleasant than I anticipated since it's a bit similar to something I have already done, so I'm quite positive at the moment.
The maps are nearly ready and you can see few pics here.

Pulling my hair out @ trying to make the wires appear the proper way between the lamps : /
The next beta will be available as soon as I fix it.

I've been thinking about a new map based on one of my old 1.6 map. I'll probably start it in a month or two, during holydays. The map setup has already been decided.

I'm currently re-texturing the level, as it kinda looked boring. The level is alot brighter in overall. Some crates have been moved and sewers have been added but it's not ready to be shown yet.

I was unfortunate to encounter problems while uploading to Filefront, so I use filebunker for the moment. Feel free to host it if you like, no need to ask me ;)
I found some Battlefield players who were nice enough to switch to CS for few minutes and learn quickly my new map. We played it just to make sure the timing and the encounter areas would work well in overall in order to prevent anyone from betatesting corny mistakes.

"I was a huge fan for source when i first started playing it. I made the switch pretty easily and just droped 1.6 because i was convinced that maybe this game would actually be big. I had a great team and an awesome owner and that is the only reason why i played source. Don't point fingers at the source haters point them at the makers of the game that changed it so much that it isn't close to 1.6 . Before all the source people attack me and say well its a different game well then quit writing these articles about how people need to switch. The maps in source are all awful small entrance way not to mention it requires ZERO strats to do in the game. Im apart of EZ5 they practice none almost and are still pretty much rolling cal invite. The biggest failure of source in my opinion was competion being none pretty much and the horrible map design. Don't point the finger at the players but at the maker of the game."

The fact I map for Source doesn't necessearly mean I like the game as it is at the moment. I still may say the gameplay is bad and claim to be a supporter of CS:S as long as I take part in its developpement. Since we can't modificate CS:S, we are just waiting for Valve to fix a lot of stuff, like the smoke grenade popping very slowly, the wallbanging etc. I've actually thought of remaking a good de_dust2 for CS:S for a while but I wouldn't know if somebody or even Valve decided to improve the current version. I heard Angel Munoz had meetings with Valve concerning 1.6 and CS:S and when you look at how many people dropped CS:S by now, Valve would rather listen carefully. A few days/weeks (dunno) ago, I saw de_cpl_strike being d00ded (hehehehehehe), and that's when I dropped the idea of remaking de_dust2, I was like : "hmmm if Magikus (go check www.d00ds.com, he's ace) remakes it too, I'm rather fucked up". So I started this and ... Everything came out with 6 days of work, somehow (I was mapping on other projects so I already have some experience, and LEGO technic was my hobby when I was 8 - 11 years old, so nowaday I align brushes quicker than saying the word :D).

I hope Valve will make the smoke grenade popping time a lot shorter (like 1.6), otherwise I fear this is going to be a heavily AWP dominated map.
I used net_graph 3 to take the screenshots. For a comparison I get about 40 - 50 fps on de_dust2 with same settings.
I'm going to do a first quick test today (wednesday) at a lan center. If the gameplay is ok in overall, I will upload a first beta ASAP. Maybe it's good, maybe it's not at all, we'll see, but I have to point out that this map is still an early beta and ANYTHING can change from now. ANYONE can have a positive input.
