#19 The problem is, I've a tendency not to like 'The Classics', like Godfather, Donnie Darko and all the popular stereotypical movies. Most are quite recent as well. I'm a big martial arts fan though!
'popular stereotypical movies' - By that I mean the typical student list;
Napoleon Dynamite
Battle Royale
Donnie Darko
Godfather Series
Goodfellas
The Ring (Obviously the Japanese version!!!!)
...etc etc
The """scene followers""" who say they've an interest in the underground or slightly out there movies. Purely to look weird or unconventional. As if it's a sin to be bland or enjoy popular culture. The very idea of trying to be non conformist just smacks of no self esteem.
Typical myspace description reads along the lines of "I'm odd/geeky/strange/random...Whatever else u wanna call me. But how boring would it be if i was normal?" (yes I copy/pasted)
95% of the DVDs I bought I watched at the cinema, because it was a time of finical liberty for me and I enjoyed watching movies. It's pretty obvious what my tastes, likes and trends are. If they're mainstream then who cares?
My Top
Remember the Titans (2000)
300 (2006)
Ghost Rider (2007)
It's all gone - Pete Tong (2004)
Tupac Resurrection (2003)
Requiem for a dream (2000)
Heat (1995)
Enemy at the gates (2001)
Lord of War (2005)
Tom yum goong (aka The Protector) (2005)
The 5th Element (1997)
Gladitor (2000)
Fight Club (1999)
Man On Fire (2004)
Enemy At the Gates (2001)
theres no problem with mainstream, its just that you said you have a tendency not to like "classics" or "popular stereotypical movies" when one or the other applies to basicly any movie in your list :)
and as for myspace: no idea, that website is for lowlifes anyway
#21
What you are giving us is basically a list of very mainstream and stereotypical movies. With the exception of:
- Crash
- The Manchurian Candidate (1962 version of course)
But I must I say like (from that list):
- House of Flying Daggers
- Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
- Fight Club
- Inside Man
- V for Vendetta
Top 5s are always so hard as there are just loads and loads of films that I really like :/
But (in no particular order):
1. Full Metal Jacket
2. Aliens
3. The Shawshank Redemption
4. The Matrix (only film 1)
5. Goodfellas
What about Ninja III?? :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_GNparFHMs
- Transformers
- Children of Men
- It's All Gone Pete Tong (a must-see to all clubbers!)
- The Matrix (the whole trilogy)
- Lord of the Rings (the whole trilogy)
1. John Q ( prossibly the strongest scene out there where Denzel lay himself on the operating table for his son, I cried like a baby)
2. Man on Fire (Well the connection between Lupita and Denzel is remarkable and the end scenes is just awesome. excellent director too.)
3. A love song for Bobby Long (id say that Travoltas preformance here is better then in any other movie, gonna get hated on now by all the Pulp fans)
4. Reign over med (sandler shows of something new and Don really made another flawless preformance like Rwanda)
5. RaY ( Jamie Foxx in his finest moments, Superbly played by him )
all these movies made me feel things ive rarely felt thats why they all belong here to me, altho some movies are better in some aspects. These are the ones that made me feel the most.
And #33 Children of men is something special. thx for reminding me will se it tonight:)
