Gina and Sjlot blog away...

a blog from Gina and me about Lowlandlions female and ourselfs.
Hi everybody, It’s Gina and Sjlot. This is our second Female blog with all our new updates since 5 May 2008. We are Melania "Gina" Mylioti and Charlotte "Sjlot" van Brabander and we’re players from the LowLandLions Female Squad.

Sjlot: I know I was meant to write a blog every single month but I was so busy. I had my exams at school, had to train a lot with our LowLandLions Female Team and had to play on my new xbox 360! But there is one advantage to this, now I have a lot to talk about! xD
Well let's start with something I assume you already know. We had a few line-up changes since the last time I wrote this blog. This blog was called 'the VB-sisters' because my sister Camille "C'mii" van Brabander and I wrote it. At that time our line-up was: Hade "Xenake" Demoor, C’mii, Jill "Jill" van Hecke, Kimberley kimmy" van den Berk and me, Sjlot. Some girls were getting a little bit inactive and quit playing. So I had to find some other girls for our new Female squad.

It's very hard to find good girls in Belgium so I started looking in the Netherlands and I found four girls who played together in the Female team called ín-w0nderland. I played some games with them and I thought they played pretty well! So I asked them if they wanted to join LowLandLions Female. From then on our Line-up was: Laure "Jayway" Sleven, Gladys "geNino" Noppers, Marloes "Loesje" van Dijk, Gina and me.

We started playing together, did some online-cups. I never had such a good feeling ever before. We were chill in game and won most of our matches against Female teams online. Our results were surprising for such a new line-up. We became second in the Playgirl Tournament, which is a very known cup for female gamers.

We all couldn’t wait to meet each other so we decided to do a bootcamp at outpost . Outpost is a gamecenter where we could bootcamp for free. We didn’t have to take our own computers so that was an advantage for the Dutch ladies. They all came to Ghent where we were getting to know each other. We played some matches, did some tactics and of course we had a great time with each other.

Gina: Then the ESWC Masters of Paris approached. First we didn’t get an invite for the Masters in Paris but because some female teams couldn’t pay their trip we were asked to take their place at the masters because we were at the invite list. This was our first LAN together (We had only been together for 2 months!) so we didn’t have that experience yet to call and scream tactics all over the place while all spectators and other players were shouting to each other.

It was a very hard event for us because we had to play against two top 5 female teams. It’s a pitty we only had to play 2 matches. Because we were switched to another poule. Our first match was against ALTERNATE ATTAX. We played 8-16 which isn’t that good. Our second match against SK-Gaming didn’t run smoother either, because we could only get 2 rounds. Over all we know what went wrong and what we have to work on. We re-watched the HLTVs and practiced on it. This event motivated us even more to become one of the best female teams.
After The ESWC Masters we had a summer break because I had to go to Samos, Greece (My home country) for 2 months.

Sjlot: While the boys were at the ESWC Finals in San José (California) I watched a lot of the female Counter-Strike 1.6 matches. I’m so glad SK Ladies won the finals, they really deserved it. By watching those matches I realized Counterstrike is a very mental game. When you are on top in a match it’s so easy for you to keep winning rounds. I think that was also one of the reasons that we didn’t have that many rounds against SK Ladies at the Masters in Paris.
A few weeks ago I took part at Battle of the Sexes at Outpost Antwerp. I won so I have to play Virtual Fighter 5 on the 5th of October at the Belgian National WCG Finals! I’m really excited because If I win this finals I have to defend Belgium at WCG for Virtual Fighter 5. Anyways don’t worry I won’t quit playing counterstrike!

Gina: On the contrary we just started playing again. Unfortunately Jayway and geNino decided to quit playing Counter-Strike, both due to personal things. They were both really strong players in our team. I really want to thank them again to stay with us so long and I’m going to miss playing with them! Anyway we had to find two another female gamers. We were looking around and we found Denice "Dee" Arendse and Iris "Topanga" Homberg who were willing to play for us during the EMS. Dee is also an ex-player of in-w0nderland so she already played together with Loesje and me for a few years. I’m really excited to play with them because they are very good players and I hope they will stay after EMS!

At the moment we are training very hard to play our EMS Female matches which are very important to us. We will begin at 29th of September. There will be four poules of six teams, those will be announced this week. All matches except for the relegation matches will be played in best-of-one mode. The prize money will be €1 500. We are also taking part in the ESL AMATEUR Ladder so we can play official matches against teams in Benelux, also to practice for the EMS Female.
We will keep you all in touch with our blogs. We hope you had a nice read!

Lots of headshots, Sjlot and Gina
