How I became a poster

By Stelian 'ShD' Mocanita

SK-Gaming had some daring and great changes with the new website with things starting to appear every now and than for us to enjoy and to bind us as a community. There are no doubts we have far more features than on the old one but at what expense? Well nothing much, just a Google-Add on your face.

It is clear for mostly everyone that the old sk-gaming.com was not making enough money (kindly saying that they were making some) so a change was made. A new design, new coding, entire change of concept: all good.

When you get to the point you are not making money you think of a change. The step SK took was away from the hi5-like website to a true community with valuable writers and pleasant content. A great step in my point of view was attacking a virgin market which is the WoW Scene. Aiming for million of new possible hit-ers for the website is clearly smart.

Up to this point I couldn't say anything against the new and improved SK-gaming.com but it happens that without any compliance to an inexistent question I became a poster. How so? Well on my profile page, the place people visit to see things about my, my favorites and so on, there is a cute Google-Add.

I am clearly aware of the fact that I am taking advantage of a free service and that money should be made off my back in some ways but this is a bit to far. No one rational can deny seeing adverts on the various pages of SK-Gaming but not on the profiles. For myself, I even click on more of the ads from time to time so I can help out and return the favors here but that is because I am aware of my part here as part of a business plan. But from this to being myself a poster...this is too much sirs.

Unfortunately I am quite aware that this blog will only get 3 comments saying "rofl" and that no matter how much I write and how much I dislike seeing my face next to a lame game or even lamer product nothing will change so ending this I wonder why did I even write this.

War on racism

By Stelian 'ShD' Mocanita

For a long while I stopped writing blogs as I only write them when I want to make a public appeal and as nothing went on I just took a long break.
But tonight I saw a great part of gaming: the friendships that bond around a game. The passion for that particular game create strong relationships that may last for long years. It is always a great thing and a moving moment to see at a LAN event two people getting together, meeting for the first time after changing tons of impressions before that.
But the dark contrast to all these pure feelings is the racism. I was shocked to read some occurrences while a plain and simple gather. I can not find any reasonable reason to hate a person just because he has a different skin color or just because hundred of years ago there were some pure political events.
While reading that a clear example came at the back of my head. A true friend of mine with a very powerful patriotic sense had a great thing against the Hungarian people and no matter how hard I tried to explain that those individuals had nothing to do with anything he didn't get it or most likely didn't want to.
An year after this the wonders of life took us to a small island, Malta located southern to Sicily, Italy. After a meeting with the president there we were amazed by the huge historical background of such a little place so we took a guide and went out to Valletta, the capital city. We found out a lot on how well all people can get together on such a small realm but my friend did not seemed impressed.
And than it stroke me: I took him by the hand and posing as immigrants we started asking people if we could get a job or if we could share the country with them. Each and every person there told us we are welcomed and helped us out, even inviting us to sit with them for a while until finding a place for ourselves. But not even this touched my friend.
We stopped at Mc's and got ourselves an ice cream and starting walking on a small isolated street. In front of us a painter who was gaining his food from the tourist's mercy was feeding a small black boy with his own food for the day. We approached and as we were starring astonished he looked at us and said: "Malta has enough for everybody."My friend froze and told me "How can he give away all his food just hoping to be able to buy some more if anyone buys a painting?". But the question that stroke me was "How can a country the size of my home city be so warm to totally strangers and how can they always welcome more people with their supplies so limited?"
So I ask you guys and ladies here: How can the world not be big enough for all of us to share if such a dot on the map can be more than enough for anyone?
I do hope you got the entire message of all this and that the next time someone you flagged as negro or jude or whatever just because he looked different is standing near you be sure to offer him your seat for all the times you even thought wrong of him.
"The world isn't black or white: it's both. Try to keep that in mind"

Writing a blog

By Stelian 'ShD' Mocanita

Why do we do it?
It is only after I wrote my first blog that I wondered why I did it. I even gave it serious thoughts. After some time I realised that I did it to show some of my friends how I feel about they playing so much so I was basicly expressing some thoughts. But I soon realised that most of the one who read it were strangers so the message didn't realy get to my friends. It was there that I realised that a blog is preety close to a friend: you write in it and you get pieces of adivce.
Make the blog hot
The first thing I did after I posted it was to make the blog hot as it would appear on the first page and the ods for my friends to see it would definetly grow. I even try to find out how to do that and asked some friends to comment upon it but there was no effect. After a day or so, when I thought all was lost I saw it on the first page but that didn't change anything.
Deleted blogs
Now I realise that the blog is here so all of us can express something we feel at a certain moment in time. If you feel like writing how great life is, how great or stupid your day was,how much you love somebody, just do so. After having posted it you may have an other state of mind and not feel the same things and so you get to delete it. That's what I did at least and I regret it now. Those words meant something for me and just because somebody said I was mad or anything else about me I deleted it. Piece of advice: Never delete your blogs! Or if you do save the text somewhere else.
Why do you do it?
Why do you write a blog? Is it because you want to express something or because you want to increase your ranking or just because you want to have a blog? Whatever the reason might be let me know please.

CS: The end of your social life?

By Stelian 'ShD' Mocanita

Is it really?
And so begins my last blog. What is CS? Well many say that it's a game where all that matters is the team-play and that developes some of your skills, not only related to gaming but also social skills.
But is it really the end of your social life? And if yes why? The reason some say that is that they never got to the top probably so they didn't really see the good part og the this game. It is harder and harder to impose yourself or even get in top 10 without having serious sponsorships, dedicated players and above all, I think, your friend and family to support you.
Nowadays more and more players flee the scene without giving any thoughts to their team-mates, their fans, their past. The reason for that? It's quite simple. This game needs to much dedication, passion and most important, TIME which you don't really have. Playing for 3 hours a day and practice for another 5 doesn't really leave you much time. And so your social life goes apart with every day that goes by: you drop your friends, you stop going out, you even get into fights with your lady or familly.
After havind read all this you might think that I am one of the passionate players who had to quit. Wrong. Not even a player. The reason for this blog is just to save some of my friends.
