Swedish WCG-admins
Ok so let's start somewhere in september. The WEG-qualifier date had been set, the WEG-start date had been set, but the Swedish WCG-qualifier still hadn't been set. So I went to the WEG-qualifier without even knowing when the WCG-qualifier was going to be. Even before this qualifier me and alot of other swedish players told the admins that they should try to have the qualifier before WEG starts, we did it several time. When the admins had picked a date(which was after WEG had started), all the wcg-players wondered why, without getting a real answer the admins told us, they wont change. In fact it was 5-6/8 who couldn't attend that date, and we told them several times, but they wouldn't listen, or maybe they did, but they didn't do anything for us more than getting the playesrs computers with Wc3-TFT 1.17(france version?). I remeber there were two qualifications to the Swedish WCG-finals, one at Rixhack, and one at internet. This qualifications didn't make any sence at all I think, since there was only 2-3 players at the WCG-FINALqualifier which was qualified, rest of the players could play anyway, even if they lost in the first to qualifier. I even remeber FuRy at that time, who was together with Duck the best player in Sweden. He was kinda sad that admins wouldn't listed and also wanted the qualifier to be before me and Duck left to WEG.
Alot of countries have already have a qualifier for ECG/SEC. So now, when Sweden got their spot to ECG/SEC, they wont have a qualifier. Why? "Because we think it's best that way." //Swedish admin "rush". I told him the qualifier was 4 months ago, 5 months when ECG will be held, but he still wouldn't realize that they maybe should have a qualifier. I asked him, if top 10 Swedish wc3-players wants a qualifier, wont you respect that?including the winner FuRy since he is top 10 for sure) He answered me with "Den där frågan har du svar på om du läser lite :) Jag har inte tid att prata med dig längre", which means like "You have an answer to that question if you read some(from our conversasion I guess) :) I don't have time to talk with you anymore". What I understand, the answer is no, but to be sure, I asked him again, same question, don't you respect if whole top 10 wc3 in Sweden wants a qualifier, yes/no? I told him to answer when he got back, but he didn't. Although I saw he looked at my profile 10 hours ago, here at SK-gaming, but he couldn't do his job as WCG-admins and answer a simple yes/no question. (btw I left my computer on over the night and he never answered).
I don't really see the point in having admins like this, we talked for a long time, and he asked me questions like why should we have this qualifier. I told him the qualifier was 5 monts ago, players getting better, and since they didn't respect us back there, they could do it now. I even said I can get an orga everyone trusts, and I can get a café we can play at, but he didn't give me a chance. I said we can have the qualifier online because of GG client which removes the delay, still no. Whatever I said, he said no, why? Because "they"(him?) thinks it is best. So why do I write this? I think it's best to let you know...
(don't make comments on english and so on, I will correct it when I get home, have to run to school now, cya)
Addicted to hunts?
I've liked hunts since the second time I played Wc3. I think it was in RoC patch 1.02. After I looked at some replays I started to mass hunts against all races (except human) if I remeber right, and if I don't remeber right, it doesn't really matter. I've always liked them because of the speed mainly, but also cause of bounce attack and hide^^
So anyhow, today the clock was 10:30, my train leaves at 10:53, and my bus outside my house 10:42 and I had not eaten. I was waiting in some line to start to download a wc3-movie(now i watched the movie, the most of the moves sucked but the effects were kinda good). But suddenly I got a really strange feeling, I felt like I had to see an elf vs elf-game at Lost Temple which I recently played. So I watched it, very fast though T_T maybe 4x speed. Then I turned of my screen, went down to the kitchen, ate and then went to the bus, very satisfied^_^
Ok so the first thing
I did when I came home from China was to cash out my pokermoney and remove the client. Going for WEG agaIN! ^_^ Wish me GL, I will need it ^:)
I also played 2 laddergames now! gg must sleep :P
Stalk Me More Please~
"Aka and I leave". That must be the most annoying words on the ladder to me at the moment. Does it really matter who I am? If I have a smurf-acc, and I do not tell which it is, but only that I have one, why do _YOU_ always have to search through the whole ladderpage to get a chance to find it? Then spam me the whole days "is that guy really you or is it that one?" And why do everyone who meets a guy with 10-0 have to say "Aka?" "Real acc please" "Say acc and I leave" "Tell real acc now or I tower up and makes massdemos" and so on. Today you can almost not even reach lvl 40 before everyone knows who you are, even if you havn't told it to anyone. I don't even consider myself as a good ladderplayer, and usually I don't get better stats than 15~-0, so I can just imagine how it would be for a good "stats"-player like Satinii or Giacomo.
I've been there myself, spamming for you to telling your acc. But now I have realized and I will just leave you alone if you have 55-0 or whatever. The main reasons for me making a smurf-acc is because of:
- I don't want any pressure. When no one knows what my acc is I can just play my own for myself and not for anyone else.
- I usually don't want to get spammed by everyone, some friends are ok though. I will tell you if I want to talk to you, you don't have to ask me :)
- Imo it's just stupid to show your strats to everyone since if I use my realnick the replays might get uploaded with a comment like "LOOK I BEAT THAT GUY FROM THAT CLAN bla bla"
- It's more fun to make a ladder-acc from the start. When you reached high levels it gets slow to play from lvl 47-lvl 50 for example instead of lvl 20-lvl 40.
When I'm looking back at the time when I was asking for real accs all the time I cannot really come up with any good arguments for doing it. You get to know who a player is, and so what? You still lost to him. Are you going to tell your friends "Hi I played this guy, I got raped, but I still played him!" or why do you do it? There is a lot of better things to do, like write a blogg or just play ladder. You will find out who you lost to, maybe not this day but how about the next month, it doesn't really matter atm.
So now I beg you all out there. Stop this bullshit stalking and do something better instead. There will always be unknown smurfs who you never will get to know who they really are.
Are Admins Really Needed?
I've played wc3 for almost three years now. During this time I've met alot of players, normal people and admins. My question is if we really need all these admins, I mean, of course we will need some admins at all events, but in my opinion, they don't have to know anything about Wc3 since the players usually knows better than the admins about the maps, best-of-x-series and format of the tournament. For example: Before ACON5 I asked the Swedish admin which maps it was. He told me it was Plunder Isle, The Two Rivers, Lost Temple, TurtlE Rock and Twisted Meadows. Exactly the same as it was supposed to be during ESWC2004 (later they replaced TTR with Gnoll Wood). I asked the admin why, and he said he had discussed it with my "clanorga" Shire(who hadn't started wc3 more than for observing a game for like 10 months or so). I told him that no one playes TTR and PI anymore and he _should_ replace them with Echo Isles and Gnoll Wood, _BUT_ he should talk to the other players first and see what they thinks about it. But when the qualifier began alot of the players was like "that's really nice maps, good work!", like they didn't had expected it at all. The 2:nd thing with this tournament was that it was fixed maps, a thing which the most of the players (at least I) don't like at all, since you can win a hole bo3 just because of the startmap and nothing else.
I have another story which happend recently. It was in the Swedish pre WCG-qual. It was supposed to be play over 3-4 days, but it was changed to only 2 because of there was only like 30~ players that wanted to play. In the first groupstage it was best of 3 and fixed maps, I was against this system alot, but when I told the admin this, he only replied that I was just a crybaby and always cried. But the next day, it was suddenly a new system, the system I told him to use, but I was still just a crybaby and nothing more. Another strange thing, was that it was only single elimination during this stage, another thing alot of players complained about before it started, but nothing happend. The results of this is that MaDFRoG is out of the Swedish WCG-qual, the player I feared the most is out, and I'm pretty happy about it, but in my honest opinion, he is alot better than other players that qualified for the LAN-finals.
At events like this they should either let the players decide the rules, or they should have admins that knows really really much about the game, or admins that don't knows anything about the game. I've only told you about bad admin(s) so far, but there is alot of good admins aswell. WC3L have good admins, they have random maps, an okay and updated mappool and they do their work. ESWC had really good admins as well. I don't know if they knew so much about wc3 (some of them did like Blatty ofc), but they knew their work and what to do. They didn't have to think about getting flamed for the maps since it was 5 maps in the map-pool and all the games except for the first groupstage was bo3. You just removed 1 map each and then you played the 3 others. It worked really fine and I was happy with the tournament, even tho the headadmin was kind of stupid.
So at important events, let the players decide the maps/format/best-of-series together. Then just pick a random person who knows a little bit about wc3, and who is good at talking to people to organize the tournament.
Ctrl+C = win?
Recently I've played 3 games at Twisted Meadows on the ladder (NE vs NE) and all the times my opponent has played _EXACTLY_ like Moon did versus Deadman. Moon played 1 aow potm hunts and fastexp. Sure, Moon has a good strat but it's so easy to counter when you know what your opponent is doing. It's not even funny to play, it's like playing vs a computer with a bo that cannot change at all. You just have to do something unexpected to win, like killing the exp before it gets up(since you know he will make an expand cause that's what Moon did).
I my opinion would this game be more fun without replays. Then you could keep your secret details to yourself and have your own strats a bit longer than just a laddergame(since some ppl always have to upload their replays). Sure I have copied strats, but I don't like it, and I usually tries to find another solution that I like than just look at a replay 3 times and the do exacly the same. The thing that makes you a good player is in my opinion when you can do other things than just play the same all games. Looking at replays doesn't make you a better player, you just wastes your time since the counter to the replay is probably already out there.
