Handling Situations
There are a few situations that I will mention in this blog and how to handle them.
Firstly a few for public players:
+ Playing at a map you've never played before
- Don't let everyone know that you've never played the map before, you won't get
anything good out of it, everyone would probably just say "we don't care" or
something like that.
- Don't complain that the only reason you have a negative score is because of the
map.
- Don't argue with people that blame you for not completing the objective.
- Don't camp at your spawn hoping you can take people down as they come in.
+ People saying you 'hack' / 'cheat' / 'low rate' / 'lag'.
- It really applies in general, but do not argue or reply to people that argue about
your style of play or your ping, if someone says any of the above, ignore instead
of dropping to their level. What they are basically saying is that you are so good
that they think you cheat / hack / low rate / lag.
+ Completing Objectives.
- If your team has 1 person left (on T) do not blame them for not completing the
objective, you should have survived and been helping him.
- If the bomb has been planted and you are CT, try wait and listen out for where
everyone is, done correctly you might get lucky with a ninja defuse or a easy
tactic.
- Don't use 'silent plant' or any other exploits (except rock jumps on nuke) as they
will likely get you banned from the server, or the opposing team to flame you.
- Don't follow your team if they all rush into the middle of a well-covered area, you
will end up dieing with the rest of them (not garaunteed)
- Don't fake your nickname. There really isn't anything wrong with using someone
elses nickname except that person not liking it and/or the other playing starting
a arguement with you. I asked some people why they fake their nicknames
before, a few people said it gives them confidence which i personally find pretty
perculiar.
+ Playing a server which you have problems with.
- If you're playing a server and you're ping is really high, you are likely to get
fustrated, which will put you in a negative mental state, making you play worse
wherever you play.
- If you're playing with people who are more skilled than you, do your best and
learn a few tricks, if you start getting fustrated over it, just leave the server and
find another.
- If the server is hosted in the opposite side of the world from where you are, do
not join it, you're garaunteed to have problems.
- Tip: Click 'Change Filters' on your 'Find Servers' window, and change the
'Latency' option to '(left arrow)50' which, and click the server with the least latency.
The lower the latency, the stronger your connection with the server, the less lag.
- If playing with people who can't tell the difference between Dual Elites and a
Desert Eagle, leave the server. There is no use over-running your enemies, you
won't learn anything.
- If you have any other problems, there are hundreds of thousands of servers out
there and you're not forced to play in one, so just leave and join a server which is
more appealing towards your expectations.
+ Listening to music.
- If you don't mind your score and won't get mad when killed because of not
hearing them, then go ahead and listen to music.
- If you're playing in a CSDM, nobody cares about your score, seen as the only
reason CSDM should be played is if you're warming up, so feel free to listen
to music.
+ Controlling recoil or spray
- If you're playing in a server and you can't control your spray / recoil so well,
practice by firing at the wall with the selected gun, and when used to it either
carry on playing or reconnect to the server by typing 'retry' in console (reason
for retrying is if you were killed and want to reset your score.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Playing in a war / gather / pcw etc.
+ Where to find a war gather pcw etc.
- You could try Gather-Network.eu, esportsea.com, esl.eu/gather, or a few other
sites.
+ How to deal with playing in a server full of people who speak a different language
to you.
- Use some logic, if the players say 'A' or 'B' then clearly they mean bomb a or
bomb b, if someone says 'cat' or 'catwalk' then you should know that they're at
catwalk, if they say something and you have no idea what it means, use your skill
to determine what to do next to garauntee your team the winning of the round.
- Don't start a arguement, if you're swearing at them in english and they're swearing
at you in polish, you won't get anywhere, only the other players some humor.
part 1 of my little guide.
+ Commenting on someones blog that they clearly spent time on
- Don't leave negative comments as you will only cause the reader some
un-happyness.
- If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all :D
Thanks for reading.
