Why Robin Hood Failed...and Will Fail Again

While the movie was good, there are so many things left out of the movie and they have poisoned any future attempt at Robin Hood.

I was honestly entertained for the entire hour and 20 minutes. The acting was good, the directing was good, scenery, etc. But why in the hell did Robin Hood only use his bow 3 or 4 times the entire movie? One of them being shooting a note to a tree. The bow is what identifies Robin Hood as Robin Hood, as well as the whole take from the rich and give to the poor (which he really didn't do either). This was a prequel to the famous Robin Hood stories to which we grew up watching, so should we expect this in the next movie? There should be one, right? With such an open ending.
Unfortunately, I don't think there will be a sequel, at least it won't have the same cast or director. Why? Russel Crowe is old. While he is a great actor, I was bothered the entire movie by him playing Robin Hood. Robin is supposed to be young, thin, agile, and cunning. Crowe is overweight, power over agility, and old. Any future movie would only leave Robin further aging, and Crowe is already 46, and people in that day and age died by 50.
Therefore, if they intended to make a series out of this, which would have been brilliant, as it would make many millions of dollars. They should have cast a younger group of people for the movie. Personally I would have liked to see Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian) as Robin Hood, and Keira Knightley as Marian. They are both young and have both been in big blockbuster series (Chronicles of Narnia and Pirates of the Caribbean). So they would likely stick with the series as they have been in one before. This would make their face synonymous with the character and allow multiple movies, all earning multiple millions of dollars. I really don't expect Russell Crowe to sick with Robin Hood because he is such a notable name. He's done great movies and he doesn't want to be type casted. He is the type of person who can pick and choose what movies he wants to do because he gets so many offers. Same with Cate Blanchett. She is one the best actresses alive. Does anyone expect her to really stick with a supporting role in her prime years? Doubtful. This movie is dead in the water, before it even gets to the second movie, which should be the best of them all, as it is a story that has been told a 1000 times.
