B!@#$ I'm Back

By Nick 'JetBlk' Shaw

Bitch, I'm Back! This blog post was copied over from http://www.complexitygaming.com/forums/blog.php?b=58.

So back in July I made a post about me somewhat "retiring" on SK (post can be found if you click http://www.sk-gaming.com/blog/JetBlk/17809-So_long_this_is_goodbye). Many of you have noticed that I have indeed returned and have been doing work for compLexity as the Content Manager since the EV09 took place. I can honestly say that I don't think that I've been as motivated as I am now to make an impact on the community. How have we been doing this? We have added many different channels of content since the CGS era when I worked for Chimera.

I have to say the thing I'm looking forward to the most is the new CTN shows. The debut of LO3 with djWHEAT was pretty awesome. Wheat is right, its nice to be able to do something and say whatever the fuck you want. CGS had way too much red tape with what you could write about, so the freedom aspect is going to be nice.

Expect the latest coverage about everything E-Sports and more content than any other site. We are bringing on some of the best to bring you fresh and exciting content (which I will be on the staffs' asses about daily ;)). My goal for compLexity is to make sure you read something here that you won't read anywhere else, have interviews that have questions people are afraid to ask, and to provide you with an unparalleled experience to how you receive your daily dose of E-Sports.

Of course I can't give away what we'll be doing in the future but i can guarantee that you will be pleased. I want to thank you all for your continued support and extend a big thank you to those who have followed my content specifically. It is the community that drives us!

Until next time,
- Nick

So long, this is goodbye

For over half a year now I've been entertaining the idea of retiring from the scene as I've been getting busier and busier as the days go on. It is not necessarily that I'm working more, its more of the fact that I'm going out and doing a lot more and enjoying life before all of my friends spread out and go to college all over the place. With this I've found myself playing games less and less and found myself not being on the computer as much and sort of losing track of the scene. Since I had the job writing for the CGS I've been just doing my own thing not really caring about what has been going on as I haven't been on for the amount of time I used to be able to.

Since I've stopped writing for the CGS I have hardly paid attention to what has been going on but just dabbing around eSports sites to just see if anything interesting was going on. I think at this point I've decided that its time to take a break from competitive gaming as I haven't been interested in being in a team for over 6 months now, but just playing some stuff for fun. Also I'll be taking a break from eSports Journalism for a bit until I have more time or when I start competing again. For those who know who I am from my past work and those who have actually followed my work from site to site, I thank you. I know there will be a lot of people who give the *careface* at this post and for that matter I don't really care. For all those who have helped me along the way, thank you too for all your help and guidance. Thanks to those who gave me a chance to get started in the scene as a journalist and staff member whether it be a webmaster position, writer, editor-in-chief, head of staff, whatever it may have been.

I'll be around checking in in sites from time to time so if you want, just leave a message and I'll respond when I see it! Who knows, I may be back someday soon so take care! ;)

By Nick 'JetBlk' Shaw
Dec 3, 2006 18:49

Today I launched JetBlk.net Version 3.0. I coded and designed the site myself. The site will be my personal home and in the near future it will contain a variety of many things. Right now it has a blog and soon an image gallery but will be expanding to have files, guides, and all sorts of things.
Be sure to check it out and leave some feedback!

1.1 to 1.1SE Mod

By Nick 'JetBlk' Shaw

» JetBlk's MS IE1.1 Mod to 1.1SE
Before I posted an insider forum thread telling people how to do this. I came up with the mod after I was tired of seeing so many people ask for a 1.1SE. This mod will give your 1.1 the same feel as a 1.1SE. What you do is you take a paper towel with some nail polish remover or acetone and rub it onto the white surface of the mouse. After about 30 minutes your mouse should be completely smooth and the grip should improve. When your hand sweats you shouldn't have a problem with the mouse slipping. If you have any questions post in the guestbook or send me a message. Enjoy!

Foam, Class, Women, and More

By Nick 'JetBlk' Shaw

So a lot has been going on in my life since returning to college and going inactive from coL. I've been keeping in the shadows but still checking in on the site to see what has been new with everyone.

Class has kept me very busy with tons of work to be done. Computer Science 4 is moving fast with learning C++ and having tons of things to code. Haven't really had to write any papers for any class yet, but I'm sure that will change fast. It has only been 2 weeks of classes (and 1 week to relax for freshmen orientation before classes started aka party time for us older students ;D) but it seems like we've crammed so much into those 2 weeks.

The weekends have been very interesting to say the least with many great parties. We've had highlighter parties with wet t-shirt contests among other different themes. This past weekend a bunch of us attended a foam party that a fraternity I'm friends with threw. Was really awesome with everyone in their bathing suits soaked from the foam especially with all the girls there ;) Got some interesting pictures I'll post at some time.

Among all the work & fun I've started to talk to this new girl and it is looking very promising for a relationship. I'll post more about this later but for now I'll leave it at that with a picture above of us at the party.

I'll check back in soon,
- Nick
