Yea, So. Christmas is upon us. Christmas trees, Presents, Christmas partys, stressed out people
who have to go buy the last presents they forgot.
Personally I do hate Cristmas. This is not because I don’t like giving presents or spend an evening with my family,
but because people forgets what Christmas is about. Instead of celebrating birth of Christ, people have this addiction to shop.
Bigger presents and more expensive ones. Bigger Christmas trees with too much Christmas decorations on them. So much food that half of it is thrown
in the garbage.
Why do we have to be so materialistic? Why cant we just celebrate birth of Christ but forget all the Christmas rush? A couple of years ago, I visited
the annual Christmas exhibition in tivoli Copenhagen, and it really got my Christmas spirit up. Last year I visited Tivoli again and
instead of getting in the Christmas spirit as I use to, I started to hate Christmas instead. First of all, all rides were open for people.. It was packed with people and you couln’t just walk around and look at things, because of people pushing and running
to go try rides, And all of this was just another way to make more money.
When you try go buy your daily groceries its packed with people, running around, stressed out because they have to buy as mush as possible
to be ready for the 24th, and when you get to cashier’s counter, you have to wait for half an hour just to pay because of the amount of people.
This year am I gonna celebrate Christmas at my moms. Yes, of course there will be gifts and cristmas food, but not in the amount as
you see in lot of places. Our tree is ½ a meter high and we give each other one present. And thats all. After that am I heading for church to celebrate Christ.
Can’t it just be the 25 of december tomorrow?

christmas is nowdays more about the gifts then the real sense of christmas
but noone really cares so its now all about the most expensive and "best" gift
and when we talk about the truth most gift's suck and 2days later we decide to change it for something else.
Bill Hicks was right, all the people who work advertising or marketing just better kill themself, they ALL HAVE DESTROY the spirit of xmas in any form
this season of the year makes me sick as hell , cant wait to be january to start another year all over.
bye
The real sense of christmas is like every other holiday like Easter, Thanks giving or national holidays: The family to gather around these unique days of the year, have a dinner together and somehow have a good time which eventually created by giving presents one to eachother.
It is okay the way you celebrate but you can't blame others that they dont celebrate it as you do.
In my case for example I always cant wait for christmas to come, for the holidays, to meet my family who are from germany (i live in greece) and to this special atmosphere and I always have a great time disregarding of how much I spend on presents, on travelling etc. and that's because it is a priceless good time!
Jesus existed, no one can't denie it. And he didn't do anything i think, he's just the beginning of a new religion dno why.
What i've learned last year and this year is "don't read the Bible as it's written, you have to think about the meaning and what it means for YOU" not what ppl say it means for them. I'm an atheist but i think there's important things in the Bible, ofc it's always reported as "miracles" but in fact there's always a message in each text and you have to understand it how you think it's the most appropriate. btw i'm really impressed and i think it's nice that Icecold gives his opinion and it touches me how chrismas is important for you, Icecold.
Imo i see chrismas as a family celebration, i see everybody once a year and this is at chrismas, it's nothing else than that for me and last year we didn't have any tree, sorry Icecold :)
To me it's about meeting your family and relatives, and getting and giving away gifts of course. To see all the happy faces when they get something they want is just so warming to see :)
So Christmas doens't have to be anything religious
For me it is just about having a nice evening with the family. Christmas has no religious meaning to me.
I have also seen tivoli every christmas for the past 10 years, and it has nothing at all to do with religion or the birth of christ.
I think that the percentage of people that celebrate christmas because it is the day christ got born is so little.
get over it.
A year should be like this... 300 days of SUN AND +30 degrees, 10 days of fall with nice colours and stuff with leaves falling.. 10 days of spring when everything grows and its nice..
and the rest 35 days winter. AFTER WHICH ITS 30 DEGREES AGAIN!!!
I wonder if 500 years from now people will worship Harry Potter...
God exist to me because I choose to believe.. if you cant live with that, please do not write lame comments in here.. You very welcome to discuss the matter, but lame comments aren't welcome.
maybe thats why people jus use it as an excuse to shop cos it dusnt matter
POSTING RULES
10. Political and religious discussions are not allowed.
Actually your not allowed to discuss the matter according to the rules.
OP as #25 states, it wasn't orginally about celebrating the birth of christ, but the Roman's hijacking the the pegan festival. So Christmas for you may be about the birth of christ but for alot of other people, who don't share the same beliefs use it as a social holiday.
#35 Our town had our xmas lights up before that! but that was because we didn't have anywhere to put them! Atleast it got us on Radio 1 ^^
