No Number Ones

By Patrik 'Anathaen' Bubák

Why there is no number one team in the world of e-sports nowadays? A simple question is followed by a simple answer. Entering the world and being accepted as any other field of sport, e-sports have become a money-making industry. Huge money is being circulated within. Witness the rise of an era, soon we would spectate addicts in front of their PCs as any other football match or formula one event, not so highly doped at the moment though. Teams with great players competing in the highest of events there are, where even the slightest glimpse of inferior performance leads to release and canvassing. I recall 2003, the year SK dominated everything. It was a really good year and SK had the best team. If things would have worked out for them and they perhaps had more patience together, they would still be unbeatable. Every day I read similar stretches: "Player xyz has left, player xyz has been recruited". If you've ever wondered why there is no number one team in the world, now you've got the proper answer.

Being accused of cheating

It's been four years since I've first began to play Counter-Strike. With years comes experience and knowledge. However, not all understand that. Not long ago I took part on several matches where I played really good and I play really good lately, at least I think so. But there will always be people who are going to be jealous. Lately many people began calling me a cheater, because of my understanding of the game, because the knowledge and experience I've gained during the last couple of years. I never had anything to do with cheats and now, even my best friends are afraid and think I began to cheat. Why am I writing this? Nobody likes to be called a cheater. It's a way of insulting someone very much. Imagine you've spent so much time doing something you had faith in, you've spent all your time and energy to build up something, to create something, no to come to a certain point where - instead of being rewarded - you were insulted and thrown aside as garbage out of the community. People have always feared what they did not understand or did not know. And why are they doing this to me? Is it envy? It feels really bad being called a cheater and being excluded from the community just because of a bunch of individuals calling themselves "the higher league" - if you beat them, you're a cheater, if you lose against them, you're a lamer. Now what would you pick?

Hallucinogen - LSD

"I believe with the advent of acid we've discovered a new way to think and it had to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people think it's so evil? What is it about it that it scares people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control. He's losing his mind, and feels it going! You're intoduced to lsd, an' it's not like taking some other drug for instance like marijuana or something, hm, well, you know, it's altogether a new thing, and you actually can have a religious experience, and, hm, and it can be even more important than reading the bible six times or becoming a pope or something like that, you know..."
